Hi, im new here and new to wakeboarding. I am a beginner, but not bad. I want a board that isnt completely for beginners, something that i will be happy with when i get good. I practice tricks and things everytime i go out, i know some of my friends just like to ride around, but i allways try to clear the wake and do different things. anyway, any reccomendations on a board that will keep me happy now and when i get better? i also would like to stay in an average price range. in other words, i dont want to buy the most expensive board out there, but i dont want the cheapest either. im sure you guys will have good advice for me. any help would be great. thanks

If I were you, I too would look at Inter-Adv boards so you wouldn’t out grow one too soon. You are also light, so I am going to assume that you are young and still growing. Being said, I would also recommend a size that you can grow into as well like a 136.

I would consider and demo some of the following:

LF – Team, Substance, Subjekt, Litmus, Omega
HL – 3DS, Premier, Murray
O’Brien – Demented, Valhalla

There are of course many others to try, but Inter-Adv boards don’t come cheap and neither do the bindings.

Yes, I would recommend a board in the 134-136 range.

thanks for the help. I like the LF omega 135. hows that one? any place i can find a review on it? one more question, how much difference does the bindings make? anything i should look for or stay away from? I am also searching for as much info as well, it just seems like everything is more or less a personal preference, as with anything in life, but any help would be great. thanks again

thanks for the advice. I dont know the difference, to be honest. if you guys think that a 135 is too small, then let me know. Im not growing any more, unfortunatly, but i do want something that i will not get tired of. does the size make a difference other than how much i weigh? thanks for the help again

p.s. if there are any other good sites where i can do some research on these things, let me know, lol theres nothing i hate more than people that want to be spoon fed things and dont research for themselves, thats not the case with me. i ordered wake physics, hopefully that will help me out a little. great site here btw

I have a 139 Omega with Alpha’s and that is a great package for $399.99. If you get them as a package, the binding size may dictate the board size.

143 package = XL bindings (11-12)
139 package = L bindings (9-11)
135 package = M bindings (6-9)

Some distributors may mix and match, but not the one I purchased from.

Smaller boards are lighter but have less of a rocker. Once you see some side by side, the size differential isn’t much at all. Now if you become a flipping, spinning pro, the smaller boards are a real advantage. It seems to me that larger boards have better pop and softer landings.

This may not be accurate but size ratings are something similar to this:

143 = 175-220lbs+
139 = 160-210lbs
135 = below 170lbs

If you don’t see yourself over 160lbs anytime soon, then the 134-136 should be just about right.

Thanks for the help, it looks like i will go with the omega 135( i seriously doubt i will be anywhere near 170 anytime in my life, lol) i will do a little more research before i buy, but i think the 135 is the way to go. I also need something that my g/f will enjoy, so i think the 135 will be best. thanks again for all the help. cant wait - Tim
