Just got my first board and started riding last week. After my first few outings I have a couple of questions on the basics.

Question 1. Any advice on how to cut with the toe side better? I have no problem cutting away from the wake with my heal side (right hand side of the boat, I ride right foot forward), but when I go to the left side of the wake and try to cut away, I have a tough time. When trying to cut on the toe side, I hold on only with my lead hand, and even turned my forward binding more toward the front of the board, which seems to help, but I still feel like I am working super hard to get very far outside of the wake.

Question 2. When using a "progressive" heal side edge to jump the wake, doesn't that make one fall back upon landing? After reading the info on this sight, I know I was doing some things wrong (i.e. holding the handle too high, and trying to olie as opposed to remaining straight leged) but the little jumping that I did, I always felt I had to quit cutting before leaving the water or else the board would come out from under me upon landing. Note: I was trying to cut with my heal side and jumping from inside out.

Thanks for the help

yea man you just gotta keep practicing. also using 2 hands to cut out on youre toeside edge might help. and idk if you practiced riding switch yet but youre bindings should be on the same angle so you may want to reconsider what you did with your front binding either put the back one on the same angle or move the front one back because it'll probably hurt you in the long run
good luck

Thanks for the input. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't doing something too stupid. I will probably change my front binding back to where I had it.

yz_387, when they say to keep the board on it's edge, that's correct, but it doesn't mean you have to be leaning far back or anything. And learning to spell heel is always cool. Mr. Green

Embarassed

Thanks for the input. I do tend to lean back a lot when trying to cut with my heel Wink side. Perhaps I need to stand more upright and concentrate on getting the board on edge without leaning so much?
