|
|
I've seen 100 posts about HS Backrolls and I always see two different things:
1 - "throw your head towards your rear hip"
2- "tuck chin onto lead shoulder, look away"
Are they both accurate? If not, which is right? _________________ Don't listen to advice from people who can't land that trick. My list:
HS+TS w2w jumps, HS+TS w2w 180, backroll
working on: I don't know, so happy I just landed backroll! |

You put your head on your rear shoulder. I don't even know what the tuck chin onto lead thing is for.. sounds like a hs front sort of.
But yes, its head on rear or trailing shoulder. |

PUT YOUR CHIN ON YOUR FRONT SHOULDER. It is very important to look over your front shoulder, not just put your head on your rear shoulder. _________________ PS- this is what part of the alphabet would look like if Q and R were eliminated.

Right now, do this. If you are Left foot forward, turn your head to the left as far as it will go. Now look up as much as you can without turning your head back. That's what you need to do. (If you ride goofy, do the opposite) _________________ PS- this is what part of the alphabet would look like if Q and R were eliminated.

See, your rotation is end over end (sort of), so your line of sight needs to be parallel with that direction of rotation. _________________ PS- this is what part of the alphabet would look like if Q and R were eliminated.

You can spot your landing just as fast if you put your head on your rear shoulder. Putting your head on the back shoulder will help initate the rotation off of the wake.
As far as spotting the water, there is a few inches of difference. Putting your head on the rear shoulder will make sure your rotation is correct, and you can still spot your landing. |

| yup what [b]re re[/r] said, that and it's almost like the opposite rotation of a tantrum. the main way you can tell is if the board is parallel to the boat during the rotaiton, it's mexican. if the board is perpindicular at a 90 deg angle it's a legit backroll. i'm trying to get my brother to stop doing mexicans so i will get him to learn it the right way this weekend. |

It could be called that, if it weren't already called a Mexi roll _________________ PS- this is what part of the alphabet would look like if Q and R were eliminated.

| will putting my head on my rear shoulder off the launch keep me from going revert? For some reason i always go revert instead of a regular backroll. Pretty close to landing it i just slip out all the time. I would still like to learn a regular backroll though and think it should be easier to land without being switch. |

Maybe this will clear it up for you, to do a true HS Backroll, you look up and over your front shoulder, but that puts your back ear on your back shoulder - so actually both arguments could be right depending on what you are talking about
Look up and over your front shoulder, or chin to front shoulder, back ear to back shoulder _________________ Malibu Boats

No, keeping the handle by your lead hip instead of getting lazy and letting it go to your back hip will keep you from going to revert. If you are slipping out on the roll to revert, you probably need to focus on getting the board turned a little farther and land over your toes more, just like on a HS 180. _________________ PS- this is what part of the alphabet would look like if Q and R were eliminated.
