|
| This is probably a heated topic but is becoming a tense situation for me. Me and my group of guys like to wakeboard in the morn like 6-9am before work. We LOVE the glass. Problem is there are tons of slalomers and they are pissed about it. There are 2 bodies of water and we stay on the body that does not have the course. We try to take turns with them but you can feel the tension which sucks. I'm cursious about other people who have encountered this and what you did. Either the approach of lets work together or f them. |

| cbaird, Just be sure to be as curtious as possible. DON'T POWERTURN, and understand that the big wakes that we like can hurt them while they are slaloming. Just don't make a wake when it isn't necessary. |

Be as nice as you can, that will piss them off more....
Taking turns is about as civilized as you can get, if they still cop an attitude just smile and wave.
You have just as much right to the water as anyone else, something more wakeboards need to learn themselves.
Wakeboarders don't own the lake any more or less than any other fool out there.
Just a thought, notice it's the old ski guys getting up early to get the good water. I know us older wakeboard guys do the same. Soon the old ski guys will disappear (die or just be too old to ride) and it will be just old wakeboard guys getting all the good water in the morning. It's all about attrition out with the old in with the new.
Also do everything you can to remind them their sport is LAME! _________________ PEACE

You are incorrect, sir, wakeboarders DO own the lake. |

| J_DOGG, I agree, it's a matter of time. Most the skiers look 40+, no real young riders. Maybe I'll offer them a ride. One guy who boards with me used to slalom for years and bagged it because boarding was so much funner. The thing I see is that these type of people don't want to start all over which is what they would be doing if they wakeboarded. They'd rather keep doing the same old thing that there good at. |

cbaird, yup, all the guys I know that have not tried snowboarding and claim never will. All state that fact, "I don't want to look like a knoob again, I'll stick with what I know."
It's just a matter of time before the new blood takes over.
re re, Fools like you give wakeboarders a bad rap.... I hope you are just joking and have your internet balls strapped on too tight. _________________ PEACE

I've neglected my switch jumping for that reason - don't want to look like a newbe again. But I've been forcing myself to dedicate time each ride to this and its paying off. |

Yeah last year we used to get it from the Georgetown Crew -
We would ride on a side that they shouldnt be.
Is funny because one time a coach with a loud speaker comes up to us and asks us to please not create a wake.
That was the funniest thing we heard, until now we still laugh about it.
Skiers do not like us the way we dont like tubers _________________ Boats run on gas, not thanks! |

cbaird, switch is essential.....
You can spot a good rider a mile away, if they are cutting in switch or regular it should look the same and you should not be able to tell what their normal stance is.
I pride myself in being able to ride switch very well, now if I could only learn some new tricks I'd be happier. _________________ PEACE
