Do you guys run your boat up on the beach? Im so fricken anal, Im afraid to do it. I dont want to scratch up the hull on the boat. If you do, do you use some sort of Hull guard?

What is the company that makes some kind of stick on guard that goes right on the V? I have seen it in a boat mag.

I just throw an anchor out the back and pull it until i'm about 10-15 feet from shore (still floating) and then tie the bow off to the shore. It holds great and you don't scratch the hull

i've beached my boat a couple times and it hasn't seemed to scratch the hull yet. but i didn't kind of get stuck one day which sucked. i just put the nose on the sand so the prop was still floating, but 3 girls were laying on the sundeck with the ballast full and other boats passing by so my boat was getting pushed towards the shore with all that weight on the back pushed the rudder into the sand, luckly my friend was there with his boat so he got my unstuck. so now i'm scared to beach my boat Smile

I personally think that the keelguard is a waste of money -- it protects a 2" strip from rocks, but the rest of the front of your boat is going to get scratched anyway from the sand. As long as you're not beaching it at 20 mph, you have nothing to worry about.

Just get over it your boat will be fine! The worst thing that could happen is that you have to do a little wet sanding...

I feel better. Im just one of those people that freaks out from any little scratch. My vehicles all look like they just drove off of the lot, and my house looks like a model home. Im just that way about everything.

Im sure after I get the first ding or scratch I will be fine. LOL. Very Happy

if i freaked out over every little sratch on my boat i would have had a heart attack a long time ago, it's a boat, it's gonna get scuffs and scratches on it, it happens, that's what a buffer is for Smile

I never run my boat up on the beach. That's frickin crazy talk man! I supposed if someone just don' care about thrashing the hull it wouldn't matter.

I'd highty recommend a Buddy line. That an anchor and an old ski rope are your best friends. Buddy line and anchor off the bow, and the old ski rope off the back of the boat to the shore.

Then you just pull the boat back to you in knee/thigh deep water and it will always spring back out nice an deep. Cool

Well then we are two different animals.... I'm pretty much the total opposite..... everything I own is just slightly haggard -- they have character and I sort of like it that way. The boat has no engine, the mororcycle has been wrecked, the dog (ok, he's perfect), and my car gets washed once a year. I just play too hard to sweat the small stuff!

I do it all the time haven't had a scratch from beaching once. When we camp we leave the boat in the water the whole time so we beach it whenever we are at the campsite. Just make sure you go in slow and look for big rocks while your pulling up.

When we beach we shut the motor early and when we get about waist high water we get out and manually pull the boat up on the beach.. that anchor buddy sounds good though.

Yea, guess it also depends on where u beach it. Here in CA., beaching your boat = harshing that hull. If I had a sweet sandy beach, I might consider it. Out here, we got rocks and chop that just eat the sheit outta the hull. I'd never beach at any lake out here.

A nice soft, sandy beach with no chop would be my only exception.

Other than that, I'm all about Buddy line. Wink

Pic in my Profile is sunset at Camanche... check the chop, that and the rocky shore out there would eat the hull harsh.

yes it depends on the beach. My old boat got beached every time out, but it was built in 78 and the hull was about 2" thick. It had gouges and scratches all down the sides when I sold it.
My new boat I use ythe anchor/land anchor setup, it works great and the boat is still only in 2' of water so its easy to get in and out. I will beach it though I am not that anal, I mean its the underside of a boat? Scratches? who cares! hahaha
But then I 4x4 too, the body of the truck is about the least important part.....

the only thing about beaching it is its a PITA if you dont keep it straight and on some beaches you will get alot of water up and over the back.....

I really don't see the big deal with beaching your boat. Cruise towards the beach, turn your engine off once you're close enough, and when there's about 3 ft of water jump out and push it in the rest of the way.

...unless you're DRIVING your boat onto the beach, there shouldn't be any damage to the hull....

I don't beach it, just buy the anchor buddy, i'll nver use anything but, it's nice to drop the anchor and then tie a line to stern and pull the boat to shore everyone gets off and i let go and the boat goes out towards the water. When we are ready to get back on pull it to shore and get on, pull up anchor and away wee gooooooo
