|
|
I went out today for my first time, only had 4 tries at it and wasnt able to get up.
How should the boat be ran? just plane off as quick as possible? Also my binding placement is my back foot is straight and my front is angled to the boat a little bit, it felt decenlty comfortable on flatland.
About the deapwater start does anybody have any tips or a link i can read, its pretty frusterating but im determined to learn lol

Change your back foot so it is the exact same as you front. You want it to be symmetrical. What boat is it with what engine. What I told my bro is to hold on tight but when getting up dont use any muscles. He is 12 so doesnt really understand the body and muscles to well but just relax and let the boat do all the work. An get the boat to plane quikly. hope this helps. _________________ The sky is not the limit. Wanna see me naked? |

The less you try the easier it is. Don't lean forward, don't lean back. Just sit there and let the boat pull you out. The way your bindings are should have little or nothing to do with getting up. And for your size, you should be able to get up behind anything with at least 120hp _________________ Does this rag smell like chloroform?

| wat i do is get the boat 2 take all the tension out and trawl so that water is coming over the front of the board and you can get stable and then get the driver 2 put the throttle down a bit and you can get up easily from there. i do deepwater starts aswel |

i've started taking off really slow for new people. we had a guy in the boat with about your same build. just pulled really slow and he eventually popped up. he could barely lift his arms when we were done, but we got his ass up!!
I'll say that it is much more difficult for large people than it is for smaller people. That same tactic on our bean pole friend, megan, got her up quick and easy. Her arms were sore too though, because she's weak! _________________ http://www.airtimewatersports.com

Initially I found the tralling behind the boat. Wait till the water rushes over da front of the board, then go. Keep your knews bent as much as possible and your arms straight. good luck |

I had this same problem when I first started trying to get up. I hope I explain this well enough, but the first time I tried it, I got up no problem. First of all, try ditching the idea of facing straight forward. I'm a big guy too, 6'5" 220, and all this did was make me plow forward onto my face. Instead, bend your knees as much as possible, like you are crouching, and place the handle right on top of your toes on your front foot. Put one arm on the outside of your front leg, and the other arm inbetween your legs. When holding the rope for this start, place one hand up and one hand down. This is going to be all legs doing the work for this. Next have the boat tighten up, as the rope gets some tension, put your wait on your back leg, and angle the board at about 45-60 degrees so that the nose is out of the water. Have the driver hit full throttle, keep your weight on your back leg and the boat should pull you right out of the water. Then just simply stand up and switch your hands so that they are both overhand. Again, this works for me, you may be different, and if I didn't explain it well I apologize. Above all else, don't give up. Hope this helps. Late.

| Good luck dude!! I think it's easier because it decreases the surface area you have to lug out of the water, especially for us tall bastards. Let me know if it doesn't work, cause that probably means I explained it wrong. |

try to "stand" in the water keeping the board directly underneath you (it takes some skill since the board wants to float up). have the driver put the boat in gear and just idle for a minute. try and keep you toes up and feel how you start to lift up out of the water as youre being pulled. then just have the driver punch it...it's kinda like doing a shallow water standing start since the board is holding you up, not just your bouyancy. i did deep water starts on my back always, but i tried this once and i found it to be a little easier.
it will come to you though, dont worry |
