hey everyone,

I think I'm turning into a heelside johnny, so I want to get my toeside progressive edge down.

The problem I'm having is I don't seem to get near enough speed coming across the wake toeside.

Any suggestions?

my guess would be that you're flattening out the board. make sure to ride your edge thru the wake & you shouldnt have any problems crossing the other wake.

he meant jumping it i believe, i think he meant 'crossing the other wake [while in the air]'. concentrate on the same technique of a heelside W2W:
- Have a good progressive edge - should have most tension at the wake
- Edge all the way through the wake - don't let up on your edge
- Stand tall - extend your legs at the wake
it's kind of awkward to learn this stuff toeside because it feels like youre doing it backwards. but it's definitely worth it, for one it makes you a better rider. but also it gives you more time in the air on your runs, because if youre just going heelside youre only taking advantage of half the jumps when youre riding (because otherwise youll be riding across the TS wake instead of jumping).

I try to tell myself Im trying to jump toward the shore instead of jump diagonally across the wake. Thats sets me up with a good progressive edge.

You need to put the board on edge to generate speed.

TS is hard cuz you need good form, you can't cheat as easy on the TS edge.
Most people think they are edging but in fact are just folding over at the hips and just leaning into the wake.

Keep the handle in tight, near the front hip, start slow and generate more line load as you approach the wake. You want to explode off the wake in a balanced position. This mean riding the board on edge and not folding over at the hips.

Hard to tell for sure with out seeing even a pic of what you are doing but this is 95% of everyone's problem with TS wake jumps.

Props to you, you are doing the right thing by learning the basics first!

Nothing funnier than seeing some kid bust a scarecrow but can't clear the wake doing a TS indy grab.
