Ok I have a 1983 cobalt and the wake is pretty big but it is kind of washing. I have searched and couldn't find anything. The wake is about to crash so there is a real soft lip but there is no visible crashing until about 6 inches later. How should i add weight for an i/o I dont think it would be the 60/40 rul but please help me.

Get some concret block and move them around, or shorten your rope.

how fast are you going? You could try speeding up a bit.

joedirt00, ah you beat me to it. That is often the problem though. Try speeding up a bit and the wake should harden up. It may take some time to get used to it, but then its a lot better.

The problem is i go faster but my friends then tell me to slow down. Then if i dont slow down they get all pissy and say im a bad driver. What should I do? And yes if i do speed up the wake is fine.

I've got an i/o with a washy wake anywhere between 17-25 mph. I dunno if its clean faster or slower than this because...well who really cares if it is. I noticed though when I had alot of people in the boat that I could get it to clean up pretty good by messing with the trim and moving people around. I've since bought some ballast so that I don't always need 6 people to make my wake decent. Usually with i/o's you want 60 up front and 40 in the rear. Then adjust the trim to fine tune everything.

What's the 'trim'? I'm always hearing this term when referring to ballast and stuff... what's it mean?
