|
|
I'm looking into putting in a 12'' sub by teh drivers foot, under the steering wheel area, and my friend say that that would be annoying with teh bass hitting you. My question is this, does it bother anyone? Can you feel the bass hitting and hitting your package as you are sitting?
Anyways, my friend suggested that i put in 2 8's where my 6.5's are ( one on either of the boat) and i would move the 6.5's to the back (this is all on the lower part of the seats). Will 2 8's hit hard and be loud enough ( i just never had a sub that same).

| I've always wondered about the space that you give up for your feet with a 12" mounted right there...... I don't think you would feel it, it wouldn't move enough air to actually bother you and at those frequencies the bass is really uni-directional. |

I've got a 12 under my driver dash. It is hiddin behind the kick panel. I dont notice any vibration. It doesn't bother me a bit. Since it is hidden I still have full room under the dash so I put our additional beer cooler there.
I definately would not put 8's in there. 8's have to have less air space and Wont hit as hard if thats what you are looking for. Also in a boat you are not enclosed like a car so a 12 in a boat wont hit like a 12 in a car. _________________ F around, F around, soon you won't be around |

PimpinD, yep, 2 JL 8 W7's would hit hard. I think they would require more air space than your average 12 though. JL makes some dope ass speakers. _________________ F around, F around, soon you won't be around |

I had (got stolen a few weeks ago) a 15" in front of my feet. You do not feel the bass any more than if you are sitting sideways in the drivers seat.
Two 8s will have more surface area than one 12. Most likely they will just not go as low as a 12. _________________ Reverend Dr. Jay

I have a 12" in a ported enclosure under the drivers console.
Custom made and fitted, had to remove the steering column and gages to install.
It sounds perfect there.
bass is non directional.
It is not annoying at all as long as you balance it with the mids and highs.
in fact it fu*&ing rocks.
However after the install my Danforth compus now points N all times...thats fine though I have GPS.
use a shielded sub or install 5' away from compus |

Centrider, I've got a 12" L7 Solo-baric under my console in my V215 as well and it hits absolutely hard. Thumps everyone in the boat, behind the boat... hell, you can feel it on shore
Bothersome? No way. I love to feel the bass all through me... then again, I like kicking it at the starting line at Top Fuel 1/4 mile events too.

I have a 12 in mine and it is not bothersome at all. I have it hooked up to an amp that has a remote gain. So it is always adjustable on the dash. _________________ Fish naked, show off your pole. |
