may be moving to california this summer, and im planning on buying a wakeskate. I wakeboard a lot already, but i have more interest in wakeskating. I will spend a good amout of money to get a good board, becaure i plan on riding a lot. While i have tried wakeskating on some other make do boards i was wondering which boards are better, those made by hyperlite or by Cassette and why u think so. Thanks a lot, this could really help me.

Um...Hyperlite boards are also concave projectely4. In fact, Kampus too.
And look at Brian Grubb, he rides a Hyperlite w/o fins, he controls that board real well.

Cassettes and hyperlites both have concave, but when you have a grip taped deck (as opposed to foam) the grip has a thinner profile and it doesn't take up as much of the concave as the foam does (with that said, cassettes seem like they have more concave if they have the grip tape when compared to the foam hyperlites).

I personally prefer the concaved cassettes. I own a flat deck, but I have ridden the concaved cassettes and hyperlites, and the cassette worked out the best for me. As for kampus, they sound like a good company too. If you do decided to go with a kampus, make sure you know what you're buying because my friend rides those decks and he told me that all of the designs ride differently and each is suited for a different style of riding.

Lastly, if you are really into wakeskating and you are interested in seeing a bunch of nice photographs, you should check out the butter wakeskate book at buttermag.com. It's the only all wakeskating book out there and it's a limited edition item, so it really is nice to have. Good luck with your purchase.

I haven't tried the new hyperlite, tried the lucky and thr old hyperlite that was the skull and flames with foam. I'm partial to grip tape though. I love my 43" flat and my friends 41" concave, both are a blast to ride. I'm actually looking forward to ridding the Origin wakeskate with the slider base.

i've been going there since 95 though and they've never done anything wrong so i'll probably just cancel it and go with the 3D Pro 40

The 3-d is a must. That is what makes the cassette so good. The flat cassettes are just like every other flat board out there.

I don't think it was perfski.com's fault x2xwakegurlx2x, it's hyperlite i believe that has been delaying the release of their pro model wakeskate line. Supporting your sponsors eh =P

yeah it wasn't, bill has been letting us know every month that hyperlite is pushing them back. They were going with different bases or diff. EVA tops or something. But i'm just tired of it. My old skate is about to snap in two.

Who doesn't ride for the fun? Smile But anyhoo, I was thinking on getting some CDI fins off wakeside.com, but I can't seem to get to the page, some links seem unavailable. By the way, what Cassette model do you ride? 2002/2003 also?

I actually just got a new hyperlite wakeskate. It is the scape 112 with the blue foam on top instaed of the grip tape. Now I don't wakeskate a lot because i like to wakeboard more but the 112 rides really nice.

I like the cassette and respect the fact that its thomas' product. Also, I've ridden the concave deck. It was everything I was looking for in a wakeskate. The grip tape gives you a better feel for the board and also more response. Although, it is a little harder on the landings if you do some wake-to-wake stuff but thats not a big deal.
