My family is thinking about moving to the delta area (Central Cal) this summer. I wakeboard a lot here on the jersey shore, but i imagine its pretty different over there. Any of u guys that live near the delta, or have been there, can u tell me what the deal is over there, where to go, weather, conditions, etc. Thanks a lot.

Where in Central Cal??? The Delta is in a specific location. There are a ton of lakes and other rivers throughout Central Cal. Name a town like Stockton, Tracy, Lodi, Merced or something like that so we can better help you.

Hypergolite--

The Delta is huge. It's a 1,000 mile labyrinth of waterways called sloughs (pronounced slews, not sloffs). Where to go really depends on where you're located. Some of the best water is in the south Delta (Tracy, Stockton, and Discovery "Disco" Bay). There are marinas all over that you can launch from. Make sure you get an accurate map your first time out so you don't get lost. It's very easy to get disoriented and lose track of where you are with all the winding waterways. Water Ski magazine (I know, I know...) just did a really good article on the Delta for their April issue. Check it out, it has all kinds of info on different marinas, locations, what to pack, where to find the glass (which is pretty much anywhere because of the steep levees and narrow sloughs). You're gonna love it. Give us Nor Cal folks a holler when you get there, we'll go ride.

Hypergolite, as Garret said the Delta is huge...I was born and raised out here on the water and I can't tell you how wonderful of a place it is. You reference that you will be going to Central Nor*Cal, where exactly will you be? This is an important factor to your access to the Delta....if you want to live where you play why don't you come on out to Disco Bay? Wink Not only should you get an accurate map, but become familiar with the channels and changing sandbars. If you stick to the main areas where we all board you shouldn't have a problem...why don't you check out www.gowakin.net for some direct Disco Bay action, we ride pretty much any day of the week and would be willing to show you around your wonder and glassy new water ways.... Rolling Eyes
Let us know when you get here....

Hyper:

Stockton is a great place to be for access to both the Delta and the lakes of central Cali. You are a close drive to Disco Bay where a lot of the action is (but it can take a while to get there by boat). Both Herman and Hellen's Marina and Paradise Point Marina are located in Stockton. There is great riding in that area. You're also pretty close to the Lost Isle - the number one party spot on the Delta. Make it a priority to check that place out! The Delta rats know what I'm talking about...let us know when you get to Stockton and we'll head out...

Most of the pictures I've taken are from the Delta. You can check out some of them at wakepics.com like Wes said. My wakeboarding gallery on my website also has a lot of Delta shots.

Here's a link to a shot of Rich Facciano just outside of Disco Bay which ran last summer in Alliance.

Delta is overrated! don't move there are sharks in the delta.

Plus its crowded, too many people starting to ride the delta, It is a crazy place to ride, if your not familiar with the delta make sure you go out with someone who is.

I posted about this a couple of weeks ago because I wanted to move out to Disco. I'll be up there this summer a lot and then I might move up there in the fall.

I've been boarding for about 2 years. Disco is awesome.....I moved to Disco so I could be closer to the water. I was born and raised in Antioch and my family is total water freaks...then once I got hooked on wakeboarding I couldn't get off the water...so here I am..I've been bording this year since Jan 12 and I probably won't stop. It's hard to live in Disco and get up and see all the butter, then have to go to work!!!! We should hook up and ride some time!

I want to move there because then I can ride almost everyday unlike here in the south bay where I get to ride 2 or 3 times a week. I'll be up there this summer so we should hook up and ride. Also do you have a house on the water? Just curious because when I was looking at houses up there the price goes up if the house is on the water with a dock.

West Coast Boarder - thanks for the props. Definitely let us Delta guys know when you're gonna be up there by posting a message or something.

Jetgofish - That pic was taken at the Old River Bridge just outside Disco Bay. I was actually standing on the wood pilings that come out into the slough, making a triangle away from the bridge. It's definitely a cool angle.

Nor*Cal - I will be riding with Tyler and those guys a bunch. Our buddies have a houseboat at Paradise Point in Stockton so we usually stay there and role out to ride whenever we feel like it (and of course early morning and evening to get some pictures taken). I'm gonna be all over Cali this summer though doing stuff for WBM and Alliance, so I'll be with Delta riders, Shasta riders, central Cali Lake riders, and even in So Cal some of the time (definitely in August for the X-Games in LA). Post some messages or shoot me an e-mail when and where you're gonna be at the Delta so we can ride.
