sorry i have no pics of my attempts...but i can write about it
i've been wanting to do raleys SO BAD for a while now, but i can never get myself to pop the board up to do the full raley, and then i don't help myself in bring ing it down. i am more afraid of the falls than anything. i do about half raleys, which i heard is harder than doing the "full" raley. i was hoping someone could go through this with me.
so my question, can anyone, who is patient enough, go step by step through the trick for me? i know i should have searched but just to help me get rid of my "problem" of doing it. such as going through it that i wouldn't worry about it so much, and telling about leaving the wake, when to start pulling myself back down, and the proper technique of getting the board down easily.
thanks in advance. |

Cut hard let the board release back with the pop of the wake, halfway or so across the wake you will feel a tug thats when you pull the handle towards your thighs or knees and land edging away from the boat. _________________ www.soswakeboard.com

All I have to say is don't bother even trying half raleys. I have raleys down now but struggled like you with the mental part. You can do as much training as you want, wakesate or tramp, but it really comes down to just goin for it. I had 11 inverts, could raley off the skate, and pretty much go vertical on a tramp raley but ate it on the attempts.
The biggest thing is keep your weight even, I concentrate even a bit more on my front. I used to get popped into a big krypt because I had too much weight on the back. EDGE ALL THE WAY THROUGH THE WAKE. As you leave the wake don't resist the pull of the boat. Your arms will extend forward which will make your feet swing up. When you are fully extended you will feel a tug and thats when you smoothly pull it down. I took my fair share of crashes learning its time for you to now. |

| even weight distribution will keep you straight. if your backfoot heavy, the front of your board will go higher, if your front foot heavy, you guesses it, the back of the board will go higher. Keep it even, and you should stay straight. once you get into the air, look at the boat. |

| Just keep the weight even on the cut and pop and your board will be snapped up nice and level. Also try to look in front of the boat at the water because it gives you a better idea of how high you are rather than looking at the tower. |

Everyone has given you great advice. Keep your weight even, if not a little more on the front foot. Make sure you have a hard cut and ride all of the way through the wake to make sure you have the speed and pop to carry you out into the flats. I took some really nasty falls until I started looking at the tower...so make sure you keep your eyes up and let the rope/boat pull and extend yourself out. When you feel the tug from the boat immediately pull the handle down toward your hip. This trick isn't that hard, most of it is mental and is in your cut. Good luck!
