crim, the old old land cruisers look just like jeeps (60's-70's models), just after that, they totally changed the look to a bigger, more suv looking thing. they're both old models but they look nothing alike.

Crim. I had a 1977 Toyota Landcruise FJ-40 (looked like a jeep)
It was rock solid! I loved that vehicle & should never have sold it. I will wish I still had it for the rest of my life.
I just got a '99 GMC Suburban LT. It is GREAT! I haven't towed with it yet, but I expect it to do fine. I had a '97 Expedition before that which worked fine, but hat the 4.6 V-8 which was underpowered for the vehicle & got terrible mileage as a consequence. I currenty drive an '86 Ford F250 with the 460. It is a DOG. It's no worse than an 86 Chevy & it's better than an '86 Dodge, but still......... I hate having to drive it. I need to get a little import car so that I can afford gas.
Cant wait to drag the boat to the lake for the first time with ths Sub. SHould be next week! Stoked.

Ahh... the short wheel base versions, you're right, they look like Jeeps. Post 1980's models were less angular than the Jeeps, and the wagon based models became more popular.

Yeah, it's awesome to see lots of the FJ-40s & 45s on Ausi & south American TV programming. i.e. discovery channel & crocodile hunter etc. They stopped importing the 40s in 1980, but I was under the impression the were still sold outside the U.S. for some years after that. What is the newest one you've heard of?
Sooooo missing mine!

| i have a 1969 toyota fj40 and i love it. i have had all of the other offroad vehicles (classic bronco, CJ5, And Scout) and the landcruiser is the most solid one of all. im going to try and post some pix of it and my other truck (01 Dodge 2500 Diesel). You can see the landcruser at Rockcrawler.com you go to RIDES and then in the box on the right side where it says [Name, Nickname] you put [Dios] and it will pop up. ill try and get those pix up later

We used to have a 98 ford f250 super duty gas version. Great truck but only 10miles to the gallon.

no we never had any problems with our scout. the one thing you have to watch out for is the rear quarter panels rusting out because the rain channel that gets the water away from the body somehow lets it collect in the quarter panels but other than that i think they are right up there with the Land cruiser FJ40. parts are also kind of hard to get for them. here are the before and after pictures of my landcruser
