Hey people whats happening, found this great site and decided to register. Anyways I'm having trouble standing up. Either the board sinks or the rope slams right out of my hands leaving me behind. I tried leaning back with my back straight and straighten my feet when I feel that "big pull" but still it either sinks or the rope snaps out of my hands.
Today was my second day and I did somewhat better then my first, any suggestions appreciated. Thanks up front.
P.S also when the boat is slowly pulling me, I still feel soooo much pressure on my hands and when my friend really punches it it snaps right out of my hands. |

| The proper way to get up is the lay down in the water and relax. You made a mistake by straighting out and pushing too hard with you legs, while pulling too hard with your arms. The bottom of your feet should be perpendicular to the boat path, your knees relaxed and slighty bent, your arms bent a little and relxed on top near your knees, with your hands gabbing the handle at your shins. The trick is to let the boat do all the work. Straining too much like you were will make you slide on your back and/or cause so much tension that you can't hold on to the rope anymore. Hope that helps. |

| One thing more I might add. You have to be right inbetween curled up tightly in a ball and layed out like you mentioned you were. If you feel your being pulled over, your driver might be going too fast, or you might be standing up too soon. |

Yeah, just take it easy. Relax your legs. Keep your back strong, but your knees loose and bent. You should roll right up on to the surface of the water once the boat starts pulling. If the board goes under for a bit, so be it, as long as your toes are higher than your heels. Sit your butt all the way down on to your heels until the board gets on plane, then stand up. _________________ http://www.downsideupvideo.com

It would actually be called "Drinking" water, not eating it...but hey, good luck getting up. Look at some of the beginner threads about getting up. I had a little bit of problems when I first started, but then I read some stuff on this site and I got up right away. Important: relax...and your driver doesnt really have to "punch it."

I was having the exact same problems. The rope just kept getting snapped out of my hands. Things that helped me after some great advise on here were:
Have the driver start off gradually, not jamming on it.
Put your arms around your knees rather than on top or between them.
When you start coming out of the water, keep tucked in a ball and then turn the board while still crouched and slowly stand up.
Keep your back straight the whole time, don't hunch over or you will face plant over and over like I did, lol. _________________ Courage is not the lack of fear, but having fear and going in anyways- |
