question...why in the hell were you trying a terribly attempted raley off of a double up????

1) didn't edge hard enough.
2) don't know how to throw the trick correcly, hence your body position
3) didn't get the "pop" you need to get for a raley...as in from number 1 to 2
4) you tried it on a friggin double up, without ever doing it before, obviously.

sorry i had to be such an a-hole about this post. i just thought it was a little dumb of you to try it the way you did... Embarassed

yeah agree

1. need to cut harder, generate more load in the line.
2. need to stand tall at the wake.
3. more weight on front foot, will prevent you stargazing.
4. Push handle to front knee when pulling it down. This could possibly bring you back to natural but might not with the amount that was stargazed..
5. dont bother about doing it off the double up, it makes it harder to get your cut right, and can buck you off axis a lot more easily. That wake looked huge anyway, you should be able to do it off the wake.

ohio_wake_2008, Hey buddy im not sure why you are flaming this guy for his so called "terrible attempt" when at least he has the balls to try and let it all the way out. I just read a thread about you saying "oh i suck at raley's and i really wanna learn them but im scared of the fall and can't get it all the way out". Why are you calling this guys attempt horrible when A: you can't do the trick, and B: at least he has the balls to try it all the way out. last of all i figure you should be that last person offering advice when you can't get your raley together and have to ask for internet advice. this is my opinion.

Yea, atleast this guy is trying the trick. it takes guts to even try it. But I agree, you shouldn't be trying it off a double up. Just go for it off the wake. You need to cur hard tho, and get some more speed. Weight distribution is key, you need to be weighted evenly on both legs, and that will keep you from stargazing. I usually stargaze myself, but I can control it and bring it back down. Just keep working on it, and dont get discouraged.

If you want, I can give you lots of advice on how to do the raley correctly, as well as S-Bends, Triple backrolls, double whirlybirds, etc---you name it.

Well no, I can't do any of these, but since ohio_wake_2008 can give advice (and flame people haha) why can't I?

oh oh I know! cause im not a jacka$$ moron like him!

gdillyfunk69, good luck on your attempts, I wish I was where u are, u got balls man!

gdillyfunk69, South has it laid out pretty well. I have just started attempting these as well, so I probly shouldn't even give advice but. Other than what South mentioned. I noticed that you are immediately looking out to the flats. That’s gona start your body going in the wrong direction too. Try really hard to focus on the people in the boat as you do this trick. That way when you screw up everyone can see the “poo in the pants look on your face! Laughing

ohio_wake_2008, please change your name! You're giving us Buckeyes a really SH1TTY REP. Another thing, you're right, not everyone who comes from money is spoiled, but if you're not a little spoiled brat, than you must come across all wrong in your typing.

OK... Looking at the video there are a few things.

1. To state the obvious again, do not try this off of a double-up or anytime the boat may be slowing down or turning.

2. When you take your cut to the wake, make it longer and more progressive (looks like you were going for a roll or roll-to-rev, not a raley if you watch the first part of the cut/rotation.

3. When you do get the progressive cut needed, make sure that you are looking at the camera man the ENTIRE time or at least the boat/rope. As soon as you turned your head back you made that trick a roll not a raley.

4. Once you get off the wake make sure to let your arms out, do NOT keep them bent in at the elbow and do not fight the rope tension with your arm strength. This will allow the board to get back behind you and create the pop in the rope needed to pull your self back down.

5. Once you feel the rope pulling/jerking at the top of the trick start to pull the rope (your arms) in and down towards your knees (you will never make the rope come all the way back to your knees but act like that's what your trying to do). This will bring the board back under your hips/body and allow you to touch down/land.

The rest beyond that is just tuning the trick. Higher, 911, Indy Glide, Grabs on the way down etc.

Ohh... And make sure that you try to keep your weight even on both feet as you hit/take off of the wake (you can put a little more on your front foot if you like but don't put very much or you will start into a 911 (spinning the opposite way of your video).

Hey man..i spent the better part of last summer just trying to learn this one trick...finally at the end of the summer JD Webb came and gave some demos...i rode w/ him and got it...the most important thing he told me was to cut ALL THE WAY out as far as u can and come in with a good hard cut and cut ALL THE WAY UP the wake...kick your legs back then pull the rope to your knees...you'll have some hard falls man but don't give up this trick is way to sick not to land man good luck!

Raleys off double ups are awesome, but not for learning. So far everyone is right, you need to edge harder but make sure its a progressive edge so the line is tight. Take a good progressive edge in and at the wake begin to stand up allowing the boat to pull you forward and let your arms out. Make sure you look at the tow point on the boat during the trick or else you'll go krypt like you did in the video. Then pull in.

Raleys are actually one of the easiest inverts in wakeboarding. You just have to have the guts to try them that first couple times. You obviously have the guts so keep trying, you'll get it.

it looks like he's doing a batwing. if you can clean it up and land it the way you are doing it it would look pretty sicc. but ya, just stay away from learning inverts off double ups.

just remember to edge hard and its almost like you snap the board out behind you as goin through the wake.... and try some wake jumps first for a raley... try to land 15 feet out in the flats.
