I'm really not sure where this question goes... its beyond Newbie, but not quite up to this forum. I'll post it here anyway.
I have been wakeboarding for a year now. I can do some of your basic tricks (180's, a few easy grabs). But, one thing thats holding me back now is the fact that I cannot jump any higher than 3-4 feet. I can jump the entire wake consistently, easily clearing it. But, I'm only a few feet off the water. I guess I don't know how to "pop" the board.
Before you post, I'll tell you that I do have a wakeboard boom on a MasterCraft 205. It puts out an OK wake, nothing great. I do have a set of fat-sacks, but the lake I live on bans them, so those are out of the question.
Please help me! |

a lake that bans fat sacs? interesting... anyway it sounds as if you are not standing tall. you shoot across the wake but not up and across. load the line when you cut and cut consistently hard. and make sure right when you hit the trough to stand tall and somewhat "lock your knees". there is a thread about halfway down this page that was explaning all of this earlier this week. check it out it has some good tips and good luck _________________ CRAIGkelly.JEFFanderson.TRISTONpicott |

Alright cool man. I'm going out this afternoon, so I'll see what I can do. If not, there are some people that teach lessons out at the lake, so they might be able to sort me out.
Yeah, you're right about the rule on fat sacks, totally stupid. I think its because they don't want to tear people's docks up, but I would'nt think it would do that much. I would put them in anyway, but you lose your boat lisence for a year if you get caught. |

That's the stupidest thing I've heard all day. It justs makes things inconvenient because now people have to fill their boat up with people to weigh it down. What lake is it that's doing this?? _________________ signatures are lame |

Yep, pretty dumb, its Lake Lotawana, MO. But I'm not sure its COMPLETLEY stupid. It's a really small lake, less than 600 acres. And there are tons of people out... all the time. Finding any smooth water is hard in the first place, so imagine what it would be like if 25% of these people were cruising around with fat-sacks.
Anyway, I just got back. I tried some of the tips from the other forum posts. I'll admit it, I really didn't think anything was going to help but the whole pulling the rope close into your hip thing really helped. It was really akward, but I did get a lot more air out of my jumps. |
