|
|
I have finally gotten w2w down. I am ready to start learning something new and figured that the 180 was the next step. The problem is my switch sucks and I just wipe out. Should I spend a few weeks riding switch? (boring) or should I work on the 180? Or go for the 360? I know the smart thing to do would probably be to work on my switch.....but ......it doesn't sound as fun as the other two... _________________ NASTY |

Get up switch, carve switch, ollie switch, jump the wake switch. If you dont spend the time learning to ride switch now then it will take you ten times as long to learn all your 180s as you wont be able to cut into the wake properly or land properly... Dont even bother with 3s until you have your 4 frontside 180s down and probably your 4 backside 180s as well.. Learn them all surface and then take them to the wake inside-out, then wake to wake.. _________________ Riding

| The first rotational trick I learned was the half-cab. Just a switch 180. Its easy, because you get to land regular. |

Yes, it will prevent you from sucking.
You don't have to spend ALL your time riding switch, just include it in your run. Get a bit more comfortable with riding switch and your set. Oh, and TS w2w is a important thing too, don't leave that out. Switch and ts w2w are the least fun to learn but pay off the most in the end. I think anyways |

And being comfortable with all aspects of your riding will make you a much better and more respected rider. People will have a lot more respect for you when you can lay down a trick and then do the same thing switch, that is not a very easy thing to do. _________________ Riding

I just landed my first 360 last night and I havent really taken the time to get my 180s dialed. I just spent enough time working on them to be comfortable with the rotation. also, i found a toeside 180 to be about the easiest 180 to learn if you suck at switch because you can use your heelside edge when you land which is usually easiest. to do this you have to be pretty comfortable toeside but honestly, toeside is not that hard to learn if youve got your hs w2w's down. _________________ signatures are lame |

I have my TS w2w down as well. I actually like TS. I am going to work on the switch riding. You guys are right. I think that a good place to practice it might be OWC. On another topic I have never really seen a pro ride in person until last week. I got to ride in a boat with one of the guys in the top 10 right now. Holy crap! So unreal. He did a "Big Worm" .... anyway. It sure makes you appreciate the difficulty of the sport.
Later. _________________ NASTY |

learning a 360 before learning a 180 is like trying a roll to revert before learning a roll. Its pretty simple, learn a 180, then a 360 then maybe switch 180 and 360, then a 5 and so on. _________________ Does this rag smell like chloroform?
