Every review of a wakeboard I read online is a positive one. I have yet to read any negative reviews of anything, so its kinda hard to know what board really is best for me. Im a noob, and I want a board that will last me a long time (one that grow along with my skills). Im thinking a lF omega or a HL state

Im sick of reading these reviews from the people who bought the board and are more than likely not going to admit that the board the bought sucks, or really doesn't fit their style.

Any suggestions or something I can read that will break down all the boards so I can truly make an informed decision instead of reading stuff like "HL rules dont ever get antyhing else" or "LF sucks all their stuff sucks Parks rules"

What's your price range for just the board itself?

I've noticed that too. I think that the problem is that a lot of these "reviewers" are really getting free product in exchange for a review. Don't bite the hand that feeds, I guess.

That being said, some of the better reviewers will throw in some stuff they don't like while otherwise being positive.

That being said, board preferences are all subjective. You can get general characteristics (speed, rocker, pop, landings, etc.) from the specs/company/reviewer, but you're gonna have to jump on each yourself to know what works for you.

As for companies, I think they are all making a fairly similar line of boards at this point. In fact, I think the main owner of most companies owns HL, LF, Double Up, etc. anyways. Therefore, I'd demo the brands that you can get access to and see what works for you.

If you are talking about on-line reviews such as the ones found on this website where memebers post their own reviews, I think they all seem positive because they probably like the board they are writing a review about. They are stoked with their new board and want to share the stoke.

I've gone through more boards than I can count and I liked each and every one of them at the time that I first started riding them. However, wakeboarding is a sport that takes time to progress in. Over the years as I progress in my riding and get more confident, my riding style changes as well. It improves and becomes more aggressive. It's at this time that I find myself searching for a new board to fit my improved riding style. It doesn't mean that the board I had been riding is a crappy board. It just means that I outgrew it.

In other words, just because a board may not suit one person's style of riding, it doesn't mean that the board is a crappy board. For example, a Byerly board may not suit a beginner this year and may seem liek a crappy board to that beginner, but 2 years from now the Byerly may be the perfect fit as that beginner advanced in his riding.

Now then, if you are talking about the reviews in wake magazines, then yes, I agree whole heartedly. You never once read an honest review of any product in a magazine. They are all biased, overly positive reviews.

I guess im looking at the package deals because they seem simpler and also because I dont know jack about bindings. Thats kinda why I was thinking the LF OMEGA or the HL State

I just rode the state at a demo the other day. The whole toeside heelside edge thing is awesome. The pop was predictable but not really the pop i was looking for, because of the fact it was a continous style rocker. So the pop wasn't very good on the state other then that it was an awesome ride.

given the choice between a state package and an omega, i would take the omega. the alpha bindings are freakin amazing, and the omega board isnt bad at all.

also remember that a company tests all the boards they press. companies cant stay in business if they press crappy boards that nobody likes, so as a result you have a lot of boards that are really sick.

Are you gonna bash something that you just spent upwards of $400 bones on?

You should research a lot of bindings and go try them on somewhere because if you get a cheap package deal that doesn't have a good pair of bindings you won't be happy with your purchase.
