Just in time for the long weekend! It's going to be an expensive summer filling the boat up.

Thanks Mr Arabs. I hope you enjoy your new fleet of Rolls's. What a joke. We are being taken. We have plenty of oil under America. Lets just stinking use it, but before we do, let see if enviromentalist can be converted into fuel. I say we tell them how much we'll pay, and they take it or leave it. They'll take it. Or we could use that new law and call there land ours.

Darin, the United States gets fuel from several different sources. I think China would be happy to buy some extra oil right about now.

Yea. china is actually the main reason prices are so high. And American prices are nothing compared to many other countries. Britrider, How much do you pay for a gallon?

Tyler T, hey dude i can't help being popular Laughing only messing.
Good point on china.. they are screaming right now....

Wakeboarddrumma, we buy litres @ like £1 each... 3.7 litres roughly in a gallon so £3.70 per gallon = $6.77 a gallon. I drive a 1.6 Mini, so thats not so bad but man its always an expensive stop when we go to fill up the SAN - over 200 bucks Shocked

I am happy to pay that for fuel.. its a diminishing resource but what bigs the hell out of me... and i mean REALLY P*SSES me off is comments like "man.... 2bucks a gallon! we are being done!". True it sucks that your fuel prices are rising.. but maybe its time they came inline with the rest of the world?

Brit Rider, aren't your outrageously high gas prices mostly a result of taxes? Or am I mistaken?

I know we would be paying close to $1 less per gallon in California if it weren't for taxes.

Chavez you're right, everyone pays the exact same for their fuel. Tax makes up all the other differences.

I'm sort of torn, on one hand I have to fill up the boat and truck. On the other hand I log on to my trading account and see another energy stock just doubled in my portfolio. I think Shell is doing a three for one split today. For all you guys that complain about the price of gas why don't you buy some engergy stocks and hedge yourself?

Just a thought.....Doesn't the weakening of the US dollar have a lot to do with the higher gas prices?

Hockeyplayer, it's a factor. There are so many other factors though, including China (global demand), lack of refineries, speculative trading, continued economic strength despite the prices, etc. etc. etc.

YEAAAAAH!!! Lets cut down all those damn trees! Forest fires? How can you have forest fires with no trees?! Effing environmentalists always trying to ruin my life, killing hundreds of fire fighters. For what? Some stupid animals? Eff them, the don't even deserve to live!

I can't even express how ignorant and short sighted your "solution" is. It's deplorable!

I thought i read somewhere that when oil hit $60 that we would start producing ethanol. I Bet the farmers in the midwest are happy about that one. Also if it continues to climb it may spur the fuel cell technology along faster. Honda and Toyota have already developed cars and have a plan to make fuel cell cars around the 50k mark by 2015.

DRAGON88,

Naturally occuring forest fires are GOOD for the environment and for all the little animals and plants in it. Only reason we put them out is cause the WOODHEADS don't know any better and they think it's ugly.

Only thing we should protect is structures.

lcap, I do know a little bit about forest ecology, and know that fires are good for forest succession, returning carbon to the soil and such things.

chavez, Yes, most of our gas prices are built on taxes.. this has alot to do with our economy being a very tax happy one, but also is linked to the idea of elasticities of demand... I'm sure you are familier with the idea.. raise price = less use. pretty much all governments in europe share this philosophy.

wkebrd3, Please justify your point, that post is not really useful unless you can share your thoughts with justification.

Bambamski, A great plan but not everyone has spare capital to do this.. especially those hit hardest by high fuel costs. I personally jsut invested a pretty hefty chunk of mine into a fuel drinking boat!
