|
|
All:
I bought a 134 Hyperlite Motive for my 13 year old son--5'6 probably 120lbs. He loves it, so his sister, 4'8", 85lbs almost 11, tried it over the weekend and got up on her 3rd time. By Sunday afternoon, she was better than her brother.. She handles it well ...heel/toe sides within the wake. He heel sides well, but not great at coming back into the wake yet. He's getting there and they both love it.
My question, is would she be better/safer on a smaller board --or-- since she can ride the 134...is that ok for her? She'll be growing so I really would like to NOT buy another board.
I put a Monster Tower on the boat and it seems to pull them right up out of the water.
Any insights would be appreciated. |

The 134 might be a little bit clumsy feeling for a while, but she will grow a bit (hopefully ) |

I taught my 7 year old daughter to do surface 180s inside the wake yesterday. We taught her to cut hs/ts cross the wake all ways, etc. last week.
She rides a 124 and weighs like 50 pounds. If your daughter is comfortable on the 134, let her ride. _________________ PS- this is what part of the alphabet would look like if Q and R were eliminated.

| yeah Its a bit big, she will have a bit more trouble controlling it, your son should be fine with it. |

ya a little big but wakeboards are pretty expensive, for an 11 year old id say it sounds about right so she can grow into it. im 160 pounds and im still riding an old 134 hyperlite motive from 2003 b/c i dont have the money for a new board. in the end, id say a board that's a little big is better than a little small. _________________ signatures are lame |

a board that is too big is better than one that is too small. if the board is too small it loses its responsive feel because i'll tend to sit deeper in the water and kinda plow through the water instead of riding on top of it like its supposed to do. when im setting people up on boards at the shop i usually will go a touch bigger than smaller because the only downside to a board that is too big is that it feels like a tank (in extreme cases). and they can always grow into it, especially if they are 8-12 years old.
bottom line is that as long as they are both having fun then everything is all good. thats basically the reason wakeboarding exists, and since your equipment is workin out for you guys i would just go with it. _________________ www.TheLiquidPlayground.com

i am 16 y/o, 5'8 130 lb's and i ride a 134
it might be a bit harder for her to learn on but its not worth the money to buy another one because she is just learning the basics on it. Maybe when oyu get her doing raleys and stuff you should get her her own board |

The binding fit may be your biggest issue. Check out the LF Nemesis/Element 124 or 131 package. $259 or $279 (124, 127) is a great deal. _________________ http://www.downsideupvideo.com
