|
|
Me and my friend just bought our first boat about 2 weeks ago and just a few days ago started driving double ups. Its a Xstar with over 2000 lbs of ballast and so the wake is huge and double ups are massive. Im getting pretty good at timing it and just launching super high (way higher than ever gotten before on a wakeboard) but the problem is that it feels like im getting pulled so hard off axis because the wake is so big its sorta forcing my lower body back and the result is that most of the time im getting really high but doing the "rolling down the windows move" cuz im trying to keep balanced/on axis..Any advice? Im comfortable hitting the wake normally and going big just get this different feeling when hitting the double up..Any help would be appreciated!! _________________ Dude that was tight. |

| try to sink your weight further back when you hit the wake, and try to keep the rope in close to your hips |

| Maybe try an open Dup to get the wakes a little mellower |

Is an open double up just when the driver doesnt hit the roller at a complete perpendicular angle? like more of a slant? Thanks for the advice though, Im goin out tomorrow morning and Ill try keeping more weight on the back foot and the rope in.. _________________ Dude that was tight. |

| Xwakerider00, yea its when the P shape is more towards a U. Like right in between a P and U. Not when the driver turns into the hole of the P. That makes the double up steeper! |

Try grabbing it then you cant do the "window opener" also you might want to consider edging in a little softer _________________ Random Acts Of Dumbness Will Always Be Rewarded. |

I wouldn't edge in any softer, if anything, keep your edge. I am working on the same thing right now. It seems that when I try to hit Dup's I always let off my edge at the end (mainly because the wake looks HUGE) and this ends up throwing my hips out behind and getting me all off axis.
Just go for it, but stay in control. Focus on the edge through the wake, don't let up. this doesnt mean you have to edge hard, just edge consistently the whole time. |

| Try hitting the first or second wave, not the third. The double up gets steeper with each wave you hit. ie 1st is way more rampy and mellow than the 3rd. |

| the only thing bad about hitting one of the first rollers is that if you hit it right then youre goin to be landing in the third roller which might throw your landing.... its happened to me a few times |
