Does anyone know if spectra rope has an industrail use? It must and I bet its alot cheaper then what retailers charge to wakeboarders.

Yes, Spectra has other industrial and consumer uses. You can buy spectra line from various industrial suppliers. McMaster-Carr carries it. Additionally, it is use for sail boat rigging (West Marine). You can buy it in bulk and make your own ropes. However, you have a lot of work to do to properly stitch it together. Spectra does not like knots. Quate a few guy buy in bulk and put up what they make on Ebay. Some of it is OK, but a lot of it is junk in terms of stitching and construction. Buyer beware.

The largest use for spectra is grocery bags. Yes, the cheap, thin, but strong bags are spectra by another name.

You get what you pay for. You can get a good no stretch line for around $75. To try to buy bulk line you are looking at a minimum of probably $.50/ft x 70ft = $35 plus you then have to put knots in it and more than likely it will not float. I personally don't think it is worth the hassle to save $40. If your talkin about saving a bunch of money thats a different story but $40 is like 3 cases of beer... wait maybe your onto something here. save the money on the line and buy more beer, Brilliant.

I have never rode with a spectra rope. Can you notice a big diffrence between it and other wakeboard "low strech" ropes?

I rode for the first time with a spectra yesterday and I was AMAZED. Its just so much more solid than anything I have ever ridden with. IMO it is definitely worth the money to have the extra strength and consistency of a spectra line.
