Hi I am Nu2wake. The name says it all! I have never wakeboarded & it is not very popular in my area. I am wanted to buy a wake board & I am on a tight budget & I was wanting to know price ranges & is it easier to ski,is it hard to wake board....just the usual questions.

Thanks,
Nu2wake

Hey Nu2wake. Welcome to the messageboards.

A few good places to start looking would be in the classified section of this forum or on ebay. A lightly used board is a good way to save yourself some cash while you learn. A brand new board and bindings can cost upwards of $600 at a local shop, but you can probably pick up a used setup for around $200 online. It's usually a good idea to try and demo a board before you buy though.

I'd say that getting up on a wakeboard is easier than skiing. The challenging part is pushing yourself to progress, locking-in the fundimentals and learning new tricks. It's a great sport because there really isn't an end to the progression.
Anyway - welcome to the sport. I'm sure you'll love it!

Wakeboarding is easier than skiing IMO. (and more fun) Check boardstop.com for boards. There's a good tool to use on wakeside.com that will show you how aggressive boards are. You will be able to pick out packages at reasonable prices. Another thing to look for is a snowboard/skateboard/wakeboard shop in your area (you said it not that popular there, but maybe there's 1) You might still be able to get a great price on a 2004 board.

You better come back and check this message newb Evil or Very Mad

definately go used but when you do get a board if you can find 2 or 3 guys in your area you guys could ride and learn from each other it will also push you to progress

Hey Nu2, where do you live? There are usually a grassroots comp near you somewhere where you get to know people that will help you progress in the sport.
So many times people are looking for a third, just show up on time and help out, kick in for gas and wiping down the boat and you will be #1 on peoples speed dial.
