Leave the wake, pull out on your heal side edge until your almost perpendicular with the boat, ollie up by planting the tail of your board down hard in the water, then sort of lift up your front foot. By pulling out beside the boat you will get some slack in the line when you ollie, this keeps the boat from pulling you over forward. Once you get the feeling for this you can start turning it 180. That was probably the first thing I learned. If you are having trouble landing the ollie 180 try getting up switch and riding for a while to get the feeling down.

yha that or jsut try the toeside 180, its real easy, you need only about 6 inches to pull it off one wake. heel side is a bit mroe difficult, but start learning to grab the board with both hands front and back. it will help you in the long run.

I went out and was doing like surface 180's and it felt like the line kept getting a lot of slack in it after i did the 180. Is it supposed to do that?

well i am guess you are pulling yourself forward and then doing the 180 so it wuld have slack, just start the 180 and let go of the handle your front hand. that should get rid of your problem.

would the size of the fins have anything to do with it? would it help for surface 360s or 180 to take the fins off?

Yes, take your fins off. Can't hurt to try it, If you don't like it you can always put them back on.
