|
|
If you practice tricks on a trampoline and use a rope/handle, this should help you quite a bit:
I originally saw this at the wakeboard camp in orlando, and recreated it on mine at home. Their tension was a little weak and I feel I have improved it.
As you know, when behind the boat, the rope is pulling you fairly hard. On handle pass tricks and others, it can really alter your body position in the air. This is why a 360 is very easy on the trampoline but more difficult on the water. This little trick helps emulate the pull of the boat on your tramp:
I'll tell you how i have mine set up, you can alter it to fit your needs:
I have my rope tied to a metal ring I attached to my house (yes, im ghetto). There is a 5 foot section going from the house to the midsection (pictured below). There, I have a simple metal clamp holding the house-rope to the midsection. This clam continues the rope with another 5 foot section to another clam, then that clam holds the handle portion of the rope, ending with the handle. Its just over 15 feet total, so my tramp is about 10 feet from my house. Now, here's the cool part:
Between the clams, put a short (I use 3 foot) bungee cord. This causes the rope to want to pull in to 13 feet but stretch (with resistance) to 15 feet. When you are in the air, you can feel the pull and if you dont do your handle passes correctly, you will miss the pass, just like on the water.
I'll admit, it adds a little danger to the trampoline, but in the end, you will learn your tricks with the correct rope tension and be able to hit them better on the water.
I actually use 3 bungee cords, because 1 didnt provide enough tension. I suggest you buy a few when you buy them, in case you want more tension.
The diagram is included, I really hope this helps people, it has helped me a ton.
use caution and remember. when u jump up in the air, you're likely going to land 2 feet closer to the house/tree because it will be pulling you in, so I recommend you start farther from the house/tree than normal.
Hope this helps. Let me know if anyone else is doing this or if anyone has any questions.
(total cost at home depot, besides wakeboard rope, $10)

Oh, by the way. The reason you have the 5 foot rope in the middle instead of just the bungee is because you do want a maximum length for the rope, and complete (un-moveable) tension at some point.

Cool idea... I bet it works best on Raley attempts...
Technically if you do the handle pass right it never leaves your hands. You should be placing it from one to the other.
Don't let go with A until you have the handle in B.

Ya, it never leaves your hands, but its MUCH easier to do if the rope is 100% slack like most people practice on a tramp, much harder behind the boat, pulling the rope at 18-22 mph, this tries to simulate that.

Landon126, great idea.
i made some adjustments if you dont mind my input, i dont have photoshop so i cant draw an illustration. ill do my best with words.
where you had your rings on two different ropes, seperated by a third 5' rope with the 3' bungee inbetween, instead i tied a slipknot through the two metal rings on one rope and left 5' of slack inbetween the rings. then attatched a tarp strap to the two metal rings and clamped the ends shut. that way you only have one rope instead of three.
i am not the master mind here so i dont know if there was a point to the three rope part or not. let me know if there was.
i also have a tip for anyone who does this or already has. on my attatchment point i tied an older ski rope around it with a slipknot through and clipped a carabiner to for my rope. case in point if you have a good rope you dont wish to leave out no worries!

What does the 5 foot piece of rope do in the middle? I still see no point to that being there
