ohio_wake_2008, a waste of gas? you can fall just as often on a wakeboard as you can on a wakeskate. Gas should not even be in the equation.
have your dad try it. he'll get hooked like everyone else. and then he shouldnt complain about the gas.
jdjgreenhair, there are many ways to get up. all are covered as BN537 listed at wakeskating.com. i prefer the deep water start. but there other ways. its all a matter of comfort.
Other than that once you get up. just ride, get a feel for your new board, and when youre ready to try it. try to ollie, flat spin, etc.
good luck. |

Junkee, well, to start off, my dad knows i suck at wakeskating and that i just stand back there acting cool, but he wants me to learn to do it before i waste time/gas on doing nothing. and 2, my dad is too "large" to wakeskate. he is about 6'2" and 230-240 lbs or so. last time he tried wakeboarding, luckily this was on the old boat, he was getting up and the rope flew out of his hands, came up and hit the boat in the back end. it put a hold in the fiberglass, but it was by the back seat...no biggie. |

Like hell he's too big... I've gotten people bigger than that up on a wakeskate. How big is your skate? _________________ ...island style... |

| Too big to wakeskate is BS. I'm 6'3", 225, 33 yrs old, and all I do is skate. |

i'm 6'4" and about 240 and i skate, your dad isn't too big. It takes a little bit longer and a little more effort for big guys to get up for the first time though, he just gave up to easily. tell your dad to nut up and get out there. if he has any desire to do it at all he'll get up eventually. _________________ "Hey man, I like that roll cage on your boat." |
