What you can't get in FL: ( Central FL at least)
- hard liquor, you must go to a liquor store
- you can't special order Tri Tip it's not popular here
- good corn/flour tortillas don't exist
BUT YOU CAN GET :
a can of Heinz Spotted Dick

Just another reason why I wouldn't ever live in Florida, but hey housing is affordable. (the comedic emoticon trifecta)

Don't come to Canada. Get beer at the Beer Store (or LCBO).

Dlady, any damn meat you have to cut on the bias is basically crap. Flank steak IS tri-tip/london broil... ...
NVC - tru blood pudding sometime.

Can you buy hard liquor at gas stations out in Cali now or something?
Grocery stores still don't have hard liquor in the main section with the food etc....just beer and wine...but many grocery stores have their own isolated liquor sub-store adjacent to them.

Where can you buy this in Central Florida?...you must have been sticking to the tourist corridor on "I-Drive", plenty of "Brit Catering" over there.

I followed the tri-tip discussion a while back...now, it's flank steak right? At least, that's what we call it in the midwest.
Having lived in Florida for 17 years, I never experienced it till I moved here.

Sounds to me like Flank, London, and Tri-tip are three different things.
FYI, Tri-tip was in WA too.

"Trip tip" comes from the sirloin tip section....flank comes from its own dedicated section.
But yeah good luck asking for a cut outside of the Shortloin area (Strip, T-Bone, Porter House etc. etc.) in a Florida restaurant....only the prime cuts get served in the restaurants.

This site has every single cut you can get:
http://www.yellowsheet.com/retail/
.......and just to put the argument to rest, London broil comes from the upper portion of the "Round section" I believe.
and No I am not a butcher ..........the furthest I try and stray is the "Top Sirloin" section when I feel like being cheap and getting a massive amount of cut....Trip Tip is a little more tough I believe.....though I will say Flank steak is pretty good when marinated correctly if you don't mind sawing and chewing.

Uh, it's all from the skirt/flank cuts ain't it.
Again, though. ANY cut that require cross grain servings, cut on the bias, will generally be a tougher part of the animal.

If it's not cooked rare, according to the web site, it will be tough. And it's cut on a Bias, like London Broil, so you don't feel like you have a mouth full of rubber

Leggester, Rare Tri-tip would be kinda nasty. Definitely cut on a bias, but it definitely isn't tough when cooked & marinated appropriately.
Good tri-tip is some of the best steak out there.
I wish my wife ate meat

I gave you the link showing that unfermented soy bean is dangerous to your health, Included tofu IIRC.

| In some states, like right across the border outside of PA, you can buy alcohol anywhere, gas stations, 7/11. But in PA you must buy Beer from the state beer store, and wine from the state wine store. You cannot buy beer and wine from the same store. Also, it is illegal to drive to Maryland and buy beer, then bring it back to PA. In PA, you can only buy alcohol from the state. They make profit on it and taxes on it. And if you buy it out of state, you are robbing PA from revenue, and that's big trouble. There are cops that will see PA plates on cars buying beer, knowing that they will be coming into PA and they will pull you over, confiscate your beer, and fine you. It's a fine day for Liberty, if you're a Nazi. Oh, you can't buy it on Sunday either. Or hunt on Sunday. I think it's called the "Blue Law". I call it the "Another law we don't need law". One more thing, you can only buy beer in cases. Unless you buy it from a bar. Welcome to America, now leave your ideas of freedom at the border and do what ever the government tells you to do, or else.

| in WA you can still buy beer pretty much anywhere and we still have wine in grocery stores but we have state run liquor stores. I can't stand them, they close at like 7 and if you want something decent, i think you're just SOL, I dunno maybe you can special order or something?
