your stargazing it, you need to have your weight distributed on the boar evenly so the board will stay straight. If you have to much weight on your back foot, then your front foot will go higher, making it so that when your coming down, your backfoot will be pointing towards the water.

I dont know if it's the best way, but I usually watch the wake and as soon as I leave the water, I look for the boat.

Yea I had a lot of trouble learning how to finish raleys. I just landed my first this past weekend. I found out that if you cut to the wake as hard as you can and then let you feet out while LOOKING AT THE BOAT then once you are extended begin pulling the rope back toward you you will come down back to your feet. It feels as if you are goin to land switch but if you keep pulling then you end up landing regular. Don't think about it to much just try it balls to the wall. The high you get the more time you have to bring it back down so don't be scared

Hokay here is what I have found in a couple of years of trying, learning, losing after stuffing my knee (HS Front), and relearning raleys.
1. Don’t necessarily go for the hardest cut you can do.
2. Controlled is better.
3. think about moving into a sitting position when cutting, rather than pushing on the board
4. Keep your head and chest up.
5. equal weight on both feet (generally means that you have to emphasize putting weight on your front foot as cutting hard will often tend to be back foot heavy)
6. think about getting pop by standing tall
7. pull the rope towards your front knee
Hokay, so how do we put this all together?
Ill break it down into a few stages, preparation and the cut, through the wake, and in the air + landing
Preperation and the cut.
Firstly I would want to be able to take HS wakejumps a fair way into the flats and to also be able to land a couple of HS inverts. It is important that you are committed to doing this trick because you generate a fair bit of speed and energy which can hurt when you suffer from RDT (rapid deceleration trauma).
Hokay, From the trough of the wake take a firm cut out on your TS. Cut till you are about 45 degrees from the boat and then begin to relax. Remember to maintain your width and eliminate slack line by keeping a bit of weight on your toes until the boat begins to pull you back. Force yourself to make a slow turn maintaining line tension and control. As your board points more and more to the wake think about adopting a sitting position. Continue to sit deeper and deeper intowards the bottom of the wake. I usually have to remind myself to emphasise putting weight on my front foot to ensure my cut is balanced on both feet.
Through the wake.
As you are getting to the trough of the wake, I often think about pushing the nose of the board through the wake. This ensures that you wont back off too early and will get pop. As you get it down and your timing better you may want to think about standing tall to maximise pop etc but I found that I used to stand up to early and lose line tension and end up getting drilled. So at the moment unless you are already getting plenty of height I wouldn’t worry about it. It is important however to keep your head and chest up. Don’t try to dive forward or anything like that, the board will float out behind you if you cut through the wake.
In the air and landing.
Hopefully you are in the air and everything is balanced. As you float across the second wake, the rope will increase its tension. At this time you will need to pull the handle down. It will be good to pull it towards your front knee for a raley or back knee for a krypt. Remember at this stage to keep your head up. If you duck your head your will continue to rotate. The landings aren’t actually super heavy from a well done raley, but just remember to land edging away from the boat still and you should be fine.
Here is a sequence that i stole from another wake site. Its a pretty decent raley.
