I had the same problem when I was learning them. I think it is because I was not fully rotating. when you think you have rotated enough, just go a little further, and make sure you are not leaning back too far. try and stay over the board, oh and look towards the shore, that seemed to help with the sliding out part. Hope this helps.

Learn to ride switch better. If you can't cruise around comfortably switch, it will take you lots of falls to learn 180's consistently.

If your switch riding is decent, then you should land edging away from the wake at approximately the same angle that you hit the wake. That means your weight and shoulders will be over your toes and the handle should be pushed back towards the wake.

Instead of tossing yourself around to spin, just let go with your front hand, and pull hard with your back hand while turning a 180 at the same time, and land on your toeside edge.

yeah exactly, landing on your toeside edge is the most key part about the landing. when you land, immediatly shift all yur weight to yur toeside edge and pull away from the boat. then once you get that down, you can pretty much do wahtver you want on the landing

yah, leaning over onto your toe side egde locks your board in place, when you land flat it can go anywhere.

..and make sure you pull that handle to your lead hip and keep it there.. then you will have control over your board. Lean over your toes and spot the shore, for HS TS 180 you probably want to let go with your rear hand. If your consistently going out the back try grabbing the board indy.. will help get you over your board. Wink

The best tip I ever got for learning these was to land looking out at the shore line. I had the habit of looking down and it does not help. For a practice drill just do inside out 180 with your elbows in tight to your body and looking towards the shoreline.....you will be amazed by the results.

yeah pulling the handle to ur front hip is probably the best piece of advice, but when i was learning them i had the same problem as you, and this was due to me not get enough air and so by trying to grab the board first it got me to pop higher and land properly

You don't need to go very high to get a HS FS 180. I spin mine in the last quarter of the jump. Don't pull the handle so much as focus on moving the handle from your front hip to your back hip. Just make sure you land on your toe edge and edge away from the wake.
