I'm new to both sports and have a few questions, back related. I injured my back last year Motoxing (herniated disk in the lower back).

Will it be foolish to try either?

Which one (Wakeboarding or Skating) would be easier on the lower back?

Thanks, I am 6'2" and 225lbs if that makes any difference...

Robert

Wakeskating will be easier on your back and it's actually way more fun to wakeskate than wakeboard.

Thanks, I was thinking the same thing... Now I have to do some 'first' board searches on this forum.... I may go with the entry level foam top Liquic force but we'll see..

Thanks again,

Robert

Ummm, I'm not sure if I agree that wakeskating is easier on your back than wakeboarding. But it doesn't matter 'cuz I think with a herniated disc either sport is a recipe for disaster.

You are right.... but I'm not giving in to getting old yet.

The actual disk looks like it healed well from the recent MRI... eventhough I still feel the nerves going down my butt and legs...

haha well skating is a lot erasier on the back, not so much jumping high its more jsut on the water tricks and a few that are 1-1.5 feet off max usually. if you are someone like Nick taylor you go extreme and pull the sickest stuff i have ever seen like 3 feet high. so i would skate over wakeboarding.

I would say wakeskating is a lot easier on your lower back. I skate and board and all I can say is I have pain in my lower back the morning after I wakeboard and I do not get the same pain from wakeskating. I also have longer sets on my wakeskate vs. my wakeboard as it does not seem to take as much out of me.
