A buddy that rides with me alot can throw a Tantrum without "tripping" the wake. I just takes a progressive edge. pops. throws his head back and fallows through with his rotation. He said once you pop let go with rear hand and then its the same thing as on a tramp. anyone know if its really this easy or if it would be easier to learn to "trip".

To do that you would need a pretty decent wake and a pretty good progressive pop to get enough time in the air to do the flip... the tantrum is a trip edge flip and letting the wake 'trip' you is definitely the easier option. Once you have it down you'll see just how easy it is.. you develop all the speed into the wake then back off at the last minute in the trough and open and square up to the wake and the motion of the board backing off will 'trip' or 'boot' you.
When I was learning tantrums once I cut into the wake a little too fast and tried to back off like you would on a wake-to-wake, but ended up opening up and got booted accidentally. What i am saying is that the trip edge is real easy once you nail the timing, and basically once you have the trip edge there is not much to the tantrum, you just hold on while your up there and get ready to land! _________________ Riding

| i dont see the point of doing tantrums without using a trip edge off the wake, it seems like it closes doors on other tricks (whirlybirds, tantrum to blind, etc..) learn to trip off the wake, its way cooler and more important |

so i jus take a progressive edge in, and at the bottom of the wake drop my back hand and square up and it will trip automatically or do i have to pop still or what? should i try it at like 65 ft instead of 75 that i normally ride at? my buddy that i ride with most of the time has a 2001 with 500 pounds in the rear and 150 in front of the motor. its a sick wake man and its peaky . should i try it with all that weight since thats what i normally ride at?

Yeah just the normal length.. the first few tannys you try you'll probably back off too early and not get booted much and not get around on the flip. It takes a little while but once you get the feel of flipping backwards then you can leave the edge change later and later. The later you change your edge and the 'harder' you do it the harder the wake will kick you and the further you will go up into the air... how far you travel horizontally is directly proportional to how far out you start your cut from and how much speed you have into the wake... if your landing on top of the second wake then take a wider cut... if your tannys are too flat and your not getting around then leave your edge change later and back off harder..
Dont worry about the wake... it will kick you. When you get 'booted' the first time you'll know what we are talking about. When you open up at the wake think about keeping your shoulders square and standing tall and turning away from the wake to face the shore.. this will get you in a good position to flip and by straightening your legs and standing tall when you change edges the wake will boot you much harder... _________________ Riding

| yeah its a cool feeling, jsut go for it. the first 4 times i tried them, i popped off the wake, got about 1/2 way around, and then just let go of the handle completely. it kinda gives you more confidence in the long run if you just let go a few times....then start trying to land them 1 wake (1/2 way across the wake) and then once you get those take them bigggggggggggggg. thats the cool thing about tantrums, you can take them SO BIG, height wise AND length wise, and you have ful control over that. |

| I tried a few tantrums last week and I would not TRIP FLIP!! I would take a raley cut and change my edge as hard as I could but would either turn back around, get about 1 foot of pop and land off balance, or just ride over the wake. I tried changing my edge early and late and I was straightening my legs and letting go with my back hand but nothing! I always thought the wake would flip you, or do you need to throw it? |

SkyHighCoaster, not at all unfortunately. But dont worry, it doesnt take as many balls than to try a backroll IMO because you dont have to flip yourself, just change your edge and it flips you (hopefully) and the falls shouldnt be bad. Its not likely to catch an edge on the landing. Good luck
Mobe789, You just edge towards the wake hard, then back off your edge at the top of the wake and square up and you get an effect like hitting a curb on rollerblades and you flip. |

| Mobe789, yea. You just gotta let off a lot more so instead of just loosing speed and line tension, you flip. |

LFADAM, are you stuck with your tantrums or you were just trying it another way and it didnt work for you?? Trip flip is the easiest thing to do once you have it down.. _________________ Riding

| Cameron, I just cant get the trip to trip. I guess I am changing my edge instead of backing off but whenever I try it, I never flip. |

I tried 4 of them yesterday. the first... haha ya know the deal.. the next i was twisting in the air. do i need to throw my chest up to the sky and try and flip my head and look "upside down". i think im hitting the wake to low i need to ride up it a little bit more but do i need to let my arm out when im flipping? thanks _________________ "kill it like a soldier" |
