| Im looking at getting either a subjekt or new substance this year. I was wondering if anyone out there had any knowledge about how the subjekt rides/performs. I am temporarily riding a 2003 substance right now so i know how they ride and was wondering how they compare. Also what size should i get? I am about 5 ft 10 175lbs. the substance i am riding now (141) feels too big, but i could be mistaken. thanks for the help. |

I have an '04 134 substance and am about the same height and weight.
I just ordered my '05 134, since the other is really one I got for my girlfriend to ride. I love it, but I haven't ridden a subject yet. The size is probably smaller than I should be riding, but I like the short board a lot! _________________ This has been a DizzyG Message |

I'm 5'9 155 and I ride an 05 137 Subjekt. Personally I love it, but I believe
the subjekt is a love/hate type board so you gotta just demo it. The pop is amazing, when you put on edge it takes off like a race car, it's loose when you flatten it and tracks strong when you put it on edge. Overall a very poppy, fast and loose board. It's also extremely unforgiving when it comes to edging technique. When I first demo'd it I kept sinking the nose edging out toeside because my form was a little off. Once I fixed my form that stopped happening.
I bought it for 2 main reasons:
1. It's not forgiving. I wanted a board that wouldn't me reinforce bad habits, and this is a board for that.
2. The pop is amazing, and I liked the 4 edge cupped fins for strong edging yet really lose when you flatten for a surface spin.
I'd personally go with a board that's too big versus one too small and sometimes I wish i'd bought the 141. Once you get use to a board the size isn't that much of an issue, and bigger boards give more pop and softer landings. |
