I have been looking through some perfect passes, are they really worth a grand? (WB pro) and whats so much the differance between WB pro and the regular Cruise for 675?

The consensus around here is that perfect pass is well worth it, do not leave home with out it.

yah, its like the ultamite cruise control, you will never slow down no matter how hard you pull as a skier/wakeboarder.

I am pretty sure the perfect pass cruise works off the RPM of the engine as it does not have the thru-hull paddle wheel speed censor. I find that on my boat if I use the perfect pass in RPM mode (as you will have to do with perfect cruise) the pull is very inconsistent. And I would say it is worth the grand

Perfect Pass is good for straight riding....wait, its friggin awesome for straight riding, but it does have a tendency to screw up d-ups

i've never had a bad double up riding behind a boat with perfect pass. It is worth the money (i know it's alot of money - but still a good investment). Anybody can drive if you have perfect pass. I've driven about 3-4 wakeboard boats with perfect pass and about 2-3 wakeboard boats without and the difference is amazing. No worrys with perfect pass - I say get it

PP can be a little bit strong (too compensating) during tight turns, but if you set up the d-up with that in mind, you can usually keep it pretty clean

Perfect Pass is a great technology for boats. In most cases it is worth it, but it depends on what kind of boat it is and how long you are going to keep it and how much you use the boat and if you have well trained drivers. If you drop a grand+ for PP in a 5-10 y.o. I/O you will probably never see that domero again. Most I/O shoppers simply wouldn't appreciate the value of PP. Then if you sell that boat in a year or 2 it may a high price to pay and wouldn't be worth it in my books.

Show him the value of the boat with PP and without at NADA.com. You will see it definately adds value to the boat.

If your dad is the driver, it makes the driving a LOT more enjoyable. You do not have to concentrate as much which means you can relax and watch a lot more of the riding. It is probably a greater benefit to the driver than the rider.

Finally take your dad on a boat with PP. I do not know anybody that has experienced it and said it wasn't worth it.

Mobe789, Everyone drives better with PP. Mine pulls thru d-ups ok too. You can adjust the settings to customize the pull. I have WB Pro on an 02 Moomba LSV. My wife appreciates it too Smile

IT just goes really fast on double ups but all you do for that is you just use the throttle and it shuts off then after the double up u get up to speed and it kicks in again, id get it

My team boat is a Nautique 206 with Digital Pro. And my experience is as follows: i thas a much more inconsistant pull when pulling a wakeboarder. It speeds up more on turns, and slows down more when the rider cuts hard into the wake. Really it's made for slalom skiing IMO.

My families 05' Wakesetter has WB Pro and it doesn't cause the above problems. (litle varience but not noticable). Plus WB Pro preforms WAY better when the boat is heavily weighted than digital pro.

All in all WB Pro is betterfor wakeboarding, but any PP is still MUCH better then no PP at all.

Go to www.perfectpass.com and read the descriptions of each model before choosing which one to buy. In short, this is what each model does:
$1295 - Digital Pro - Has a lot of features for slalom skiing, not worth the extra money if you're a wakeboarder.
$1099 - Wakeboard Pro - You set an RPM or speed digitally before you start the run and it kicks in when need. It now (new feature) can also store speeds in memory for up to 8 names. Imo this is the one to get.
$979 - Perfect Pass Plus - Same as Digital pro w/out digital speedo.
$675 - Perfect Pass Cruise - Same as a car cruise control. Get the boat to the speed you want then press the button and it stays at that speed.

Really, Digital Pro and Plus are meant for slalom skiing. Also, although I've never used a cruise, from the description, I think it would be much clumsier and harder to use than a Wakeboard Pro. Being able to set the speed digitally then press the throttle forward and having the PP do the rest is priceless. I was pulled behind a boat with a Wakeboard Pro by someone towing their 2nd pull ever, and it was better than my Dad's pulls a year after I started wakeboard (he's now a lot better.... but that's not the point).

I would not have a boat without it. Rode behind a weighted 205 recently and it sucked.. No possible way to keep a consistent pull. The fact that it was an Inboard might have had something to do with it, but man, it was everything I could do just to pull basic tricks.

It is totally worth the $1100, IMO.
