| this thread will turn out 50/50. half the people will say it helps and the other half will say it doesn't help. Thats how all the other threads about this have turned out. If you want to see a lot of opinions on this it would help to do a search, I know there have been a few debates about it on here.

Exactly. Your more likely to hurt your neck (hyper extension) when crashing on water doing the tricks you mentioned, than your nogan. In fact, a helmet will increase the surface area around your head which can actually add to a potential neck injury. Helmets are for hard objects such as sliders, rails, docs etc.

Well hmmm, what about concussions? They can keep you out for months.
What about bursted ear drums?
What about the board hitting you on the head. (It happened to me on a wake jump. Sliced my head right above my ear and it was still on my feet)
I dont have a helmet but it still is wise to wear one but only if it fits snug or else it hurts more then it helps because you have plastic nailing your head instead of water. (A loose helmet)

| My wife got a concussion at Shasta. She did not hit her head on the board. She started passing out that evening and I had to take her to the emergency room in Redding to get a MRI. $3000 dollars later they said take two asprin and call them in the morning.
