I have searched this topic, and found nothing. And i'm not sure if this should be in the Boat General Discussion. So dont burn me for that. I was wondering since my malibu has a weight regulation of 1475 lbs. or 10 people, if i have all of my fat sacs filled the weight would come roughly to about 1100 lbs of ballast, and about 1000lbs of people. so a total of 2100 lbs, and 625 lbs over weight...does this really matter? or is it just recommended?

It is just recommended. Just about everyone on this site is going to tell you they run well over the CG approved weight. My boat has a cg weight of 1250 lbs. and I have over 2000 lbs. of ballast alone with no people. You should be able to go well over that recommended capacity

On the flip-side to that, if the police pull you over and look at the "recommended" amount of people vs. the amount of people in the boat and your over, BUSTED! When or if the Coppers become more keen to our weighted boats, then we'll be screwed.

well the only coppers around where i ride, are the Wildlife resource officers, and th USCG. the wildlife officers stop us on average of 4 times a week. they only check life jackets, and fire exstinguisher. But the USCG checks everything...they even board the boat, and step all over the vinyl, with their big black boots...pisses me off. but my dad, and the guys that ride with me are in the coast guard, and we always sweet talk them.
