ya tell me about it
Ya the biggest shop here is Sun and Ski Shop. Its a little hole in the wall and its not even a wakeboard store. They just happen to carry some HL gear. Thats it. Its really pathetic. _________________ http://www.learnwake.com/amember/go.php?r=253&i=l1 |

That business is cut throat baby....good luck...
I know cuz my boy runs the best shop around here in NH.
You might have better luck/less risk if you try to become an area REP....
I'm sure down there that's hard as well. _________________ PEACE

Be ready to be at the same place, every single day of the week, including weekends, holidays, and times when all of your friends are out riding - you'll be sitting at your shop. And you will starve, kiss a lot of butt, and deal with a bunch of stupid people. Really, you'll make it based on who you know.
But actually, I wouldn't change my life for anything in the world. There's three things that keep me going every day I spend here: The satisfaction that I am working for NO ONE but me, hosting wakeboard tournaments, and SURF EXPO !!
Good luck, though! _________________ www.bsboardshop.com |

It's probably because everyone is busy surfing...
Find out if there is enough of an interest in the area first. I know someone who opened a shop with a focus on wakeboarding and then majority of his business turned out to be skateboarding... _________________ DPC Films

Seahorse, you put it well.
Make sure you are really up for it, if you aren't, a wakeboard is the last thing you're going to want to see on your (maybe) one day off a week.
I work at an MC dealership, and I love it. It doesn't mean you'll end up hating what you used to enjoy, but again, make SURE you're really, really, REALLY into the sport. Make sure you know your equipment before you open up, and find a location that gets good exposure to the people you will be marketing to. |
