yo,

so I've been wakeboarding now for about 4 or 5 weeks behind a sea doo wake. i can cut heelside and toeside well, and can jump w2w. but since it is a seadoo and the wake is smaller, airtime is limited and i want to start working on surface tricks,
i am using the fins now but what are the advantages disadvantages of using them and not using them. i don't even know what they are for. and by the way the board is a 2005 hyperlite state with 1.1 a wings. any thoughts would be appreciated!
thanks!

Wakeboarding with fins is the same behind a boat or behind a seadoo. To do surface tricks get smaller fins but your board Wont have that much grip in the watter and will be really loose

man ive been riding for about 5 weeks to just on the week ends and with a 140 movement from hyperlite with 2 fins in all being 2" each i have a real hard edge but surface tricks throws me very easy. So this week end i have 1" p-wings coming to use.I hope that will help me out. last week i tried it with out any wings and it was easy to do 3 but very hard to get air. it was hard to get air with my wings to because of how big they were. Just stick with small fins man

to start out doing sruface tricks, slow the boat (or seadoo down) to about 15-17 mph. the slower boat speed will let your fins free themslevs. ae you just trying surface 180's? if u are, i would recommend tryin ollie 180's.

yah surface tricks on a wakeboard are not really great, unless you need to get used to doing the movement, but having bigger fins makes it easier to get air b/c you can edge in harder to the wake making you get more hight and throwing that huge whirlybird.... Laughing
