Hokay, I got one of those big-ass 16mm video camera deals that record directly onto the VHS at like 200fps, buuut I have no way of putting it onto my computer for editing......what hardware/spftware/skills do i need?

a 16mm camera that records onto a VHS tape?....

do you mean you have a vhs tape copy of a 16mm film?

JamesWatts, old schoolin 80's deal...works like a dream.....one of those shoulder mounted things...yea I don't know what I'm doin at all when it comes to old equipment

I think he means it a big shoulder mounted unit like a broadcast style unit. The old VHS camcorders were pretty good size before they invented VHS-C sized tape. Undoubtedly it's got composite video out only (3 RCA style plugs or if it's a pro unit 3 BNC connectors). The cheapest setup would be some sort of A/D converter like a Dazzle or Canopus. You could also connect it to a newer DV camcorder's analog in and stream your video through it to your computer. JVC, Sony and Go video all make dual VHS/DV VCR's as well so there's many ways of doing what you want. Some of the original consumer VHS camcorders were built "down" from Broadcast style technology, have excellent glass and are capable of pretty good quality in spite of the format.

RD, I think I've got basically what your saying but I have no idea what an A/D converter is or where to get one, or how i could stream through the analog in?
