im no expert but you normally go off axis like that when you havent got your weight evenly distributed at the top of the wake

hahaha Laughing ...sry i had to. sweet pics. look at your take off. you need to edge all the way through the wake as hard as you can. dont try to through the trick to early other wise one leg will come up like it did and you will get screwed. make sure you look at the boat to keep your shoulders square and then just pull it down. easy as that Laughing

Yup, not leaving the wake correctly, need weight about 50/50 on both feet in order to stay flat. Looking at the tower or ahead of the boat also helps stay flat.

Plus you leave early so you are not getting enough air to complete the trick.

I would also suggest more line load, I can't see the bottom of the board on your approach and your knees are too bent.... You want to be in a more stand up position while loading the line on your approach to the wake.

I hate to say this cuz it messes some people up but you need to play tug o-war with the boat more on the approach.

look at your body position in the first pic. that is the position you must be in when you hit the wake.

yah that sounds right, im no raley expert, but it looks like you're letting off of your cut before the wake, keep a strong hard cut all the way through

Check out the first two pictures, you are backing off into the wake. Your raley cut should be progressive, that is getting harder and harder as you come into the wake and you want you butt almost touching the water at the wake. You cut in the first pic is what you want when you hit the wake.

As for the stargazing well your weight definitely isnt 50/50 in that pic and for a raley it definitely needs to be. You dont need to back off and stand up at the wake you want to be crouched with heaps of tension on the line, then when you hit the wake with that speed it boots you and your body naturally straightens out as the boat pulls you forward. You basically start pulling it back in as soon as you feel the boat pull you, the rest is just spotting the landing.

If your taking heaps of hard stacks then have a couple of goes on the wakeskate to get the feel and the body position right and just tuck in on the landing so you dont slap the water. Then while its still fresh in your muscle memory strap on the wakeboard and give it a go, it will be heaps easier that way, and you'll definitely notice the difference.

Good luck, let us know how it goes. Wink

I had the same problem when I was learning raleys. Put more weight on your front foot, edge all the way through the wake, stand up more on your cut, and stick that sh*t.

Well, read your suggestions and tried it again yesterday. I made sure I had a progressive cut, like I do in the first pic, and made sure i held that all the way upto the wake. But again I turned sideways, I thought I was looking forward but maybe not? I also believe I am not letting my arms out all the way. I'm wearing a helmet now too. Had an incident on a raley where my board came off when I hit the water and came back to hit me right next to my eye.

I'll try it again in a few days.

your board goes sideways cuz you throw it to early. if one leg is still on the wake obviously your board is gunna get screwed up cuz one leg goes back before the other. make sure you are completely off the wake. i had that same problem and then fixed it by waiting longer. keep trying and good luck.

Sounds like you are over-complicating this trick.. really it is as easy as a backroll once you get it down mate.. and once you land it you'll probably stack more backrolls than you would raleys cause the movement is so natural. You dont need to throw anything, otherwise you'll get rolled over like a backroll.

You want to start out basically as far as possible. Level off your board and the boat will start to pull you in, start your cut and you want to be at number 1(weakest cut) here, and when you hit the trough you want to be at number 10(hardest cut).. might help to count on the way in. You dont want number 10 somewhere halfway in cause then you wont get hte kick you want.

The whole time you cut in keep your knees bend and your weight 50/50 on the board... at the trough you want to be squatted down so as that your butt is basically touching the water. Try that position on the land... weight 50/50, knees bent, butt on the ground with a handle tied to something... then you'll see the position you need to be in... anything different and you'll get all twisted off the wake. Once you hit the wake LOOK AT THE TOWER... this will stop you rolling over and stargazing and eating it!!

When you hit the trough in the raley think about it like this:: Your balled up, knees bent, arms out. You hit the wake and you go up, looking at the tower your body will get pushed up into the air and you will naturally unball and get laid out with your legs going out the back. Make sure sure you let your arms out here otherwise you will have no play in the rope and nothing to pull with. As soon as you feel the rope go tight you pull it back in and push it down towards you hips.. the rest is spotting the landing.

Let us know how you go dude, good luck. Wink
