so I've been wakeskating a few times and was planning on getting a cassette flat or something to start out with.

But i have a birthday coming up and I'm thinking I'm gonna ask for a skate. should I still stick with a flat starting out or just get the parents to spring for some sort of concave?

any suggestions on the skate also

if you know you are going to actually like wakeskating, you ought to go with a concave, depending on how much cash you have available. if you are going to skate once in a while and board most of the time, a flat will be fine for you.

Just spring for the concave. Way better feeling under your feet. Plus if for some reason you don't like it, it will bring more in resale.

yeah I'm pretty sure I'll like it, i have my first few times out, I'm probably going to end up splitting my time pretty evenly between skating and boarding

on a side note, are all cassette concaves a-symmetrical now? what are the advantages? what about switch riding and everything?

how about some other good concaves?

The A sym shape makes it easier to initiate shuvs (comes from skateboarding, many skateboards are A symmetrical) , causes the board to swing better, one end is heavier and has more kicktail. What about switch riding?? Makes no difference really. LF has some nice concaves out, the impulse, control and the armada. GAtoR has a couple concave skates also.
