They are no worse than driving through rough water and in some cases not as bad. Rough water is continuouse waves...
They definitely create more stresses than smooth water, but I'd think boats are engineered to handle them. Personally, I wouldn't worry about them. I might check that all the bolts/screws etc are tight more often though. I could see how bumps might cause them to loosen up quicker.

Just listen to your boat when you hit a double-up. In most situations you'll hear rattling and creaking and groaning... definitely more so with older boats than with a brand new boat...but I don't see how that can be good for your boat. Inboard ski boats were certainly not engineered for rough waters. They handle rough waters terribly. I have a friend who hits double ups all the time and I wait everytime for the boat to fall apart. I haven't ridden with him in a long time. |

| It spills hella beer, that part always sucks. Bolts and screws can loosen as OttoNP said, we use locktight on all the bolts around the windshield. Hold on to your beverages and small children, but the boat should hold up fine. V-drives do handle them a lot better than inboards, thats for sure. |

I'm surprised that locktight doesn't screw up the gelcoat _________________

Wouldn't the locktight be on the inside though? not on the gelcoat side? _________________ If I agreed with you we would both be wrong. |

| Locktight creates its own bond, it will work as a sealant on gelcoat and fiberglass which is pretty interesting. Expensive stuff though, a regular bottle is like $30! |

My old boat would shake rattle and roll every time we drove a d-up...but she still held together. The new whip cut's through nice and clean....making a monster booter fo yo jumping pleasure.
We hit the d-up every time we need to turn around, people on our lake love us they still have no clue what we are doing.
I agree the d-up wont hurt your boat any more than driving around mid afternoon at peak Wally time.

We hit d-ups at each end of the lake, everytime we ride. That's alot of d-ups. The MC handles them like it was made to _________________ www.MidwestMilitia.net |

unless you have an old bayliner most any boat will handle them fine. and like Slay said if the driver some talent. _________________ Founding Member of the Forearm Club of America!
