I've got an 84 F150 with a 351ci engine that I tow an 86 sn2001 with. Towing seems to work the tranny pretty hard, so I plan to install a transmission cooler. I was wondering if anyone else has found it necessary to put one on their tow vehicle and if there was any recommended cooler brands.

Thanks,
Lucky

Lucky1, definitely get a tranny cooler. B&M makes a few that are easy to install and include all the hardware.

Check www.jegs.com or www.summitracing.com, or even your local auto parts store.

I wouldn't recommend towing almost any boat more then 20 miles at a time unless you have a tranny cooler. They are an inexpensive way to protect a vitial portion of your vehicle.

chavez, is right B&M makes a good cooler. I would personally start with his last statement and go to your local auto parts store, tell them your vehicle make and model and they should be able to set you up with everything from the cooler to the zip ties to make sure all the lines are secure when you're finished.
