There's lots of good advice on the Home page of WakeBoarder.com
You need to learn switch riding, edging, progressive edge, then you are ready to jump wakes.

practice practice

Warwickshire yay! I know where that is! Where do you ride? I would start learning your progressive edge and also riding around switch will help too. I would seriously consider buying one of the wakeboard instructional DVDs out there. Higher Education or The Book are strongly reccomended and are available from www.boardflix.com Very Happy

hook up with as many different boarders as you can, you learn and progress faster when you watch and have others around you. Try to get a few lessons under your belt too, saves you getting in bad habits.
Enjoy yourself, oh and i can recommend the Book dvd. Also get it from Wake dvd.co.uk, good bloke to deal with.

That was my problem @ the start. I got up on the 2nd try and started crossing over the wake. About my 4th attempt I tryed to pop. Yep, I popped.. well that is my face into the other side of the wake when I did not now how to land.
It's not like skateboarding. You have a rope pulling you. If you don't agle right when you land and not adjust yourself quick, that rope will yank you to the ground or let go.

I guess the best advise is just mention above. I had to. Wink

Definitely start out with small tricks and then progress to bigger tricks. You wont be a pro your first season. I have been boarding avidly for about 3 summers now and I still cant land a 360. I started out and tried to go too big too fast. I ended up taking a nasty spill and injured my back pretty bad, it cost me a whole season of doctor's visits and recovering.

as everyone else has said just try riding around switch and maybe some surface tricks. If you get comfortable on the board you will find that everything will be a bit easier. oh and the key is to have fun.
