This will be my first boat. Im new to this, but want somthing I wont outgrow right away.

I have been a trolling newbie for sometime now and have learned alot; enough to cancel a boat order, thanks to this site. I hope I made the right decision.

I ordered a 2006 Maxum 1800sr with 220 merc, and wake board tower. I recently canceled it and put my order in for a Moomba Outback.

Im sure this is a good upgrade, and for not much more money. Please give me some feedback.

2006 Moomba: Red and White, with tower, Ballast, stereo. This boat is 310hp. Cant fricken wait. Very Happy

Thanks for the info guys.

There's a lengthy thread on vegas riders in the Find A Pull Forum...

Don't know anything about the moomba, just wanted to say congrats and I'm sure you'll love it. You may get some bashers (and that would be for any boat), don't even listen to them. Good Luck, I hope it comes to you soon!

I figured someone would bash me. I could buy a Gold plated MasterCraft for 500,000.00 and Im sure sombody would diss it. Actually gold plating looks pretty cheap, so I could actually understand some dissing...LOL Wink

Due to that wakeboarding sucks with wind or that wakeboard boats suck on choppy water?

spinwax, both.

The Outback isn't exactly known for a high freeboard. Just be careful and know when to call it.

I have to hand it to you guys that regularly board on Mead. Damn ocean if you hit it at the wrong time.

spinwax, I ahve had experiance with both brands and recently sold on my Maxum 1800sr..

its was a great boat but won't even compare to your moomba.
ONe thing i would say is that its a great open water boat.. the maxum really did munch up anything you throw at it.. but then again, now i made the swop to a V-drive i would never go back as rough water handling is about all you gain.

Good purchase i'm sure you will love it. keep us updated on how you get on with her.

spinwax, excellent choice with the Outback. The difference in handling alone is huge.

Which ballast package did you go with?

Honestly, I just told them to do the ballast upgrade. Im such a newbie to wakeboarding, I probably wont need to use it for some time. It was the Standard ballast upgrade. Is there somthing else I should ask for Question

spinwax.....I hate to throw a wrench at you, but there are 2 Outback hulls. If your boat has the same hull as Mobius LSV you will be in good shape (Outback LS or LSV). If it is the other hull (not LS or LSV model), then you might want to test drive first and at least compare. I was not impressed with the smaller Outback hull's wake. Bow was low to water which became an issue when crossing rollers and wake didn't really get much bigger with more weight. In fact I have ridden I/Os with noticably bigger wakes with similar balast.

I know you are pumped for the boat, but thought you might want to consider this while there is still time to change your mind again if you are getting the smaller Outback. I would at least test drive the different models.

Yea, you definately want the LSV hull.

I'd recommend the Gravity III Ballast 3-Bag system (1 Front, 2 Rear).
