| hey everyone, I'm Jenn and I just found this website....and I just started riding last summer, on my cousin's board (o'brien clutch 137)....of course I'm not a fan of using his so I'm hoping to buy my own within the next month. Now. After reading up on stuff, I'm wondering if you guys know if any one brand of board is known for being higher-end and better-quality than the others, and if any are known to be a little on the not-so-great side.....i checked out the o'brien vixen today and am interested....any opinions/info are greatly appreciated. i know a LOT depends on personal opinion, but just wondering if there is much variation quality-wise. thanks!!! |

As long as you stay away from Hydroslide or Nash branded boards, pretty much no. _________________

| thank you.....anyone else wanna give their two cents? i know at first glance this might seem like another "what board is best" thread but i'm really just wondering if there is a 'top of the line' or 'crap' spectrum here.....kinda like the 'Cadillacs' or the 'Geo Metros' of the bunch....lol |

sapphirestorm, trust the Ladies Man. Ladies Man knows all...
That is, I agree with chavez. Many folks rate Hyperlite and Liquid Force, maybe CWB as well, as top brands, but really there are a bunch more that are very good. (see LFADAM's newbie guide post in this forum.) Just stay away from Hydroslide, etc. and you'll be fine.
Beyond that, definitely try it out before you buy. There's no way for any of us to tell you how your board will feel to you. Most shops that specialize in board/water-sports will at least give you a guarantee if not "loan" one to try. You may find that another O'brien is what's best for you, so who cares if a hyperlite is "better"? |

OMG! Someone used the search or read something themselves first!
They pretty much said it though, all those brands are decent Hyperlite, CWB, Liquid Force, DoubleUp, Obrien...
Now if you're getting some bindings to go with your board, this is where you may want to be a bit more careful. Quality of bindings varies a lot more IMO... make sure you find something really comfortable that you like, or you'll be kicking yourself later when you're returning them cause your feet hurt and you can only ride for 10 minutes. |

I would also check out one of the package deals LiquidForce do for a board/bindings combo. It is popular opinion that LF have lead the pack this year with their bindings.

But yeah try before you buy if you can. |
