| first, thanks to all of you guys for providing some great info. I just started wakeboarding about 2 weeks ago but have been learning about it for several months. I have been twice so far and I feel that I've caught on pretty quick. I feel comfortable with edging and such but have yet to attempt a jump. I have a friend who has been wakeboarding for years and he says that I won't be able to land a jump for a few months. I see myself landing alot sooner than that. I feel that I should be able to land a wake 2 wake within the next two trips to the lake. Am I being naive, or is it as hard as he says. |

| kaizenfighter, i bet you land in the next time you go out! Don't listen to your friend, he must of progressed really slow or something. If you just go out and try it a few times, i bet you will be able to get some densient air, or even clear the wake. Good luck with it! |

| Thats what I'm hoping for. I've always been really athletic and well balanced so I think that I should be hitting wake to wake soon and 180s soon after. |

You shouldn't be worying about how long it takes, or should take, to do tricks etc.
Just ride and get everything you do looking good. You may be hitting wake 2 wake first try, but you will spend a long time getting them consistent and smooth looking.
Time on the water.........no substitute. |

little bit of advise: When you first learn to ride and to jump it is a blast and you want to do it over and over and this is good. While you are doing that though you are usually not learning one important thing and that is riding switch. You will usually learn to jump riding one way and then it is hard to take the time to learn to ride switch, put in the time though cause it's worth it. _________________ pain heals, chicks dig scars, glory lasts forever |

it really depends on the person. I have friends who have been out 6-7 trips to the lake and still can't jump at all. I have seen others go wake to wake in 2-3 trips. Don't get discouraged if you're not getting it. Just do the best you can. Before you start to try 180s make sure you can at least ride around switch. You won't land them consistently until you are comfortable with being able to maneuver switch. _________________ You have just entered the twilight zone. |

| Ok, here is an update. I went out with my friend today and after a few runs I decided to give it a shot. I started edging in and right when I got to the wake, I caught an edge. I smacked really hard right on my temple and am pretty sure I got a slight concussion. I've been dizzy and sick all day. Not a good first attempt! |

| Might want to start smaller than that and work up to the big jumps. First get used to going straight across the wake at speed (no air, bend your knees). Then try some one-wake jumps landing in the middle, and once you can stick the landings on those, then go bigger until you're doing w2w. |

My friend Ian went out with us 2 times last year. (first times ever) He's been out twice this year and he's getting 3/4 across the wake. I'm very impressed. He'll be across the wake in a couple more tries. _________________ http://www.airtimewatersports.com

This thread leans close to my question....so I am not bothering to open up a new one and get flamed
How do you land a jump, should you lean more to the back or keep you centerpoint close to the board??? Little info anyone?? Thex. _________________ It is I who puts the MOI in MOIST. |

don't lean back....common mistake, put your body in centerpoint as you said and get down with your knees a little bit (softer landing)....do'tha practice _________________ http://www.pako-photos.tk |

im surprised he discouraged you from being aggressive with wakeboarding, i always encourage people to be aggressive because its so fun to watch lol, plus they progress better. but ya, get some 1-wake jumps in and work on your progressive edge before you go for a w2w jump. dont get discouraged by one bad fall either, cant learn if you dont make mistakes. _________________ signatures are lame |
