|
|
This past weekend I was out riding, and I decided to try a raley at the end of both of my runs. Both times i got fully extended, and then as I tried to pull myself back down, I rotated onto my back and landed on the water on my back both times. What Am i doing wrong? I don't have any video yet, and i probably won't be able to get any before the 12th. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am looking forward to sticing one of these. thanks

| When you are pulling yourself back down, dont pull so hard. |

| Look at the tower the whole time. Don't take your eyes off the tower once your in the air. This will keep you from spinning over on your back. Problem with this is that if you don't make it, it hurts a little more than if you land on your back. Just a little though. |

I think i described my problem poorly. When i mean i rotate onto my back i mean that i spin, not flip onto my back. I am fully extended and then i spin over onto my back as i try to pull myself down. kinda like a 919 or whatever it's called, except i dont mean to do it. thanks

which way are you spinning..
To me sounds like your stargazing, which is caused by not having weight evenly distributed on both feet. When you hit the wake, the foot with the least weight on it gets lifted higher. Because of this, if you are grossly unequal (say 25% front - 75% back) your front foot will get more of the lift which will cause you sto spin frontside. If you can stop this, you may be able to pull it down to a krypt but more often than not you spin onto your back. The same thing will happen if you have weight distributed more on your front foot - your back foot will lift higher.
Now to prevent this, it is important to cut in with weight evenly distributed, it can help to practice cutting hard on the other side (HS) of the wake. This way you dont have a big scary wake to run into, so you can concentrate on getting your cut balanced.
So the key thing to remember here would be which way you are spinning. If you are spinning frontside, its likely you have too much weight on your back foot. If your spinning backside its probably the opposite way round. Or you could just take it to a S-Bend.
The other thing which could cause this problem would be if you arent pulling the handle to your front hip, which would cause you to spin, however it wouldnt be as pronounced as what you are saying. One way to help with this is to try to push the handle onto your front knee. |

That sounds exactly like my problem. I am spinning backside. It sounds like I have too much weight on my front foot. The next time I get out (Probably not till next week after finals) I will work on trying to get my cut balanced and throw a few more of them and hopefully try and bring one down. If nothing else I'll have some more really funny crash footage, and I'll entertain the people in the boat a little bit more. Thanks for the help
