GIMPshop

I just downloaded this it is a exact replica of photoshop but its free and I was wondering if anyone else has it??? everything is soo hard to use cuz they use long stupid names instead of simple title for the tools. And id like to know how to do simple things like taking part of one picture and putting it on another and stuff like that... it is exactly the same as photoshop like menus tools and everything.

if you don't know how to do simple things like take part of one picture and put it on another how would you know if it's the exact same?

I dont know if you watch g4tv but it was on there "damn good downloads" segment and they compared the two and they were exactly the same. But they didnt show how to do anything.

jamesriver-rider, interesting. I'll have to check it out.

The thing is with photoshop that nothing is really easy. It is a very powerful tool but is designed for the advanced user so it has a large learning curve. I'd get a book or read some online tutorials.

OK thanks and the offiacial website is www.gimp.org the site is almost as confusing as the thing itself and they have bunches of new updates and everything and no one clear download it took me a while to figure out which one I needed but I guess it will be cool once I figure out how to use it

GIMPshop is a GIMP hack to make it look and behave like photoshop...

GIMP (not GIMPshop) has many, if not all of the same features as photoshop, but with a very different user interface. This is because it was originally written for X11/unix/linux and not for Macs/Windows. It has been ported to macs and windows, but the ports have the same interface as the X11 version. This turned off many people, so they came up with the hack, called GIMPshop, to make it look more like photoshop in an effort to convert the many Photoshop pirates.
