stand tall when you reach the wake and suck up your legs once in the air. How fast are you going??

if youre bending your knees when youre at the wake instead of only when edging in , then that is absorbing your pop.

When you say that you cut hard, it makes me think that you are dropping in right off....

Below is from the trick tips section of Wakeboarder.com That section may answer some of your questions......

Learn the Progressive Heelside Edge

Rider: Charley Patterson

Learning how to edge progressively is one of the most important skills in wakeboarding. Virtually every trick uses a progressive edge, as it's the key to getting the most height possible while staying under control. Every wakeboarder should take the time to learn how to edge progressively, it'll help out in the long run. Here we explain the keys to heelside progressive edging.

First, let's define what we mean by a progressive edge. A progressive edge is when you edge on your wakeboard and build up the amount of edge slowly, so that your maximum edge is when you reack the top of the wake. By "maximum edge" we mean that your speed and line tension are at their hardest when you reach the wake.

Think of how a pendulum swings. As it goes out to it's highest point, the ball on the pendulum is moving at it's slowest. When it swings back towards the bottom, it starts slowly, and builds up speed "progressively" until it's at it's fastest point at the bottom. In wakeboarding terms, the wakeboarder is the ball cutting out wide, and you want to wait for the boat to begin pulling you back towards the wake, as it starts to pull you, you begin edging in with the proper body position, and build your edge so it's at it's hardest as you reach the wake, which is the bottom in our pendulum example.

Oh yea....and stand tall at the wake....your bent knees will take away your pop.

Side note, you don't want to be taking internet lessons from me.... Well, unless you are looking to master some good wreck technique. Wink

Just cut hard, straighten your legs when you hit the wake, and in the air MAKE SURE THAT THE HANDLE IS DOWN BY YOUR HIPS because if its up by your head you will lose 2 feet of air

try shortening the rope alot, it helps aton to have a nonstrecth,
take a progressive edge, pop off the wake with the handle low
good luck, also if you could get some video up, we could help you even more

Everyone always says "cut hard", "edge harder closer to the wake", use a "progressive edge". However very few people explain how to actually increase your edge, it's all about body position and lean. (FYI this is al take from the book dvd and my experience at www.wakeboardcamp.com a couple weeks ago).

The way you want to work on your wake jumps is by doing what everyone said before except to edge "harder" you basically do the following:

When you cut out toeside and flatten off, roll your knee's forward a little and put bend your knees. This should be the maximum bend in your knee's, IE don't increase your bend as you approach the wake. The correct body position for edging is knee's rolled forward a little, shoulders back, chest up to the sky. Come into the wake very slow and mellow, it's almost like a drift speed. When you hit the white wash created by the boat, about 5 feet out from the wake, you want ot start increasing your edge to the desired strength. This is done by leaning back with your shoulders and lifting your hips into the handle. When you hit the wake you want your body in a strong backward lean position with your chest to the sky, shoulders back and hips up creating a straight line from your shoulders to your heels, This gives you a strong line to resist the force of the water hitting hte board when you hit the wake. This converts all of the force of the water into lift, versus having your body absorb the "pop". Those are the element of the progressive edge, for 180's and 360's you use a different edge as this generates too much line tension for 360's+

Body position and backward lean against the rope is the key to the heelside jump. Also coming in VERY slow and then building your edge when you are very close to the wake is key for beginners, this gives you minimal speed and maximum pop, which lets you feel comfortable coming into the wake.

I also suggest using 80' of rope and doing single wake jumps, starting small and progressing slightly bigger until your almost casing the opposite wake. Then shorten the rope to 70' and do the exact same thing, you will easily clear the wake that way. Shorter rope is fine but you can't progress as smoothly as small jumps case the wake.

yo dude, sounds like u mainly need to stand tall at the wake...by bending down ur absorbing the pop...another thing u might want to try is shortening the rope i had to do that at first too, then when u do that after a while u can jump the entire wake with the rope let all the way out Ride on Cool
