How much is "a ton." I think you need to determine a budget then go from there.

well i am a swimmer and i am pretty good and my college will be paid for. i am about to sign with Michigan U for a full ride. and so i can take my money and spend it on what i want. my dad didn't tell me to buy a boat though. thats just what i want to do. i don't want to spend everything on a boat though only like 15,000 the rest i want to trick it out and for my jeep. so now what can i get for that much?

wow you must be an awesome swimmer because i know guys who have gone pro in baseball and not one of them got a full ride for college. and what year are you in high school? maybe arizona rules are different but here we arent aloud to sign until a certain date in your Sr. year.

but i do know what you mean about being taught to save at such an early age. i didnt have that much, but if you got it i would still keep saving and just spend some on the boat. For 15,000 i would look at an early to mid 90 sport nautique. but thats just because i love nautiques.

good luck

I'm 21, and I currently have (let me see...) $12.10, and thats $AUD.

Then again, I currently have over $200+ in unpaid speeding fines, plus a $110 boat fine Neutral

Can I bum a ride Wink

I hope you enjoy the new boat!

yea well i relized that i really don't have to pay for anything. think about it all you college guys and grown ups have to pay for a house car taxes bills and the most important food. all i have to pay for right now is my truck which i got for $100 and going out on the weekends which only cost me like $10 the rest my parents pay for so that is why it is easier for me to save. i bet once i am out on my own i will be broke

So your coming up here to MI huh? What's you major going to be? I know/work with a bunch of people that went there. The boarding season here is May-Sept, or April-November if you're more hard core. The lakes freeze in November and they don't reallly unthaw until later March. You might want to wait until your up here before you buy it so you don't have to haul it, also maybe your school will have something you can use. Also, boating is huge here, you wouldn't have a hard time finding someone to pull you. If you did get it, you'll have to deal with having something to pull it, storing it somewhere, insurance, maintenance, etc... Owning a boat has a lot of hidden costs and time requirements, you might just want to save your cash and ride with someone that already has a boat. It is nice to have your own boat though.

You have money oozing out your ars, get a 210 Team Edition, you wont be disappointed.

Will your $100 truck tow it? possibly not but it sounds like you can afford an upgrade in that department as well..

"owning a boat has a lot of hidden costs" LOL....you can say that again bro...

PEACE

Yeah, owning a boat is a lot more expensive than just buying one.

If I were you, I would take that 30,000 and invest it. You're only 16, why do you need your own wakeboard boat right now. That money will grow and you'll have a ton more. Then, when you're older, you can buy a better boat and still have extra money for other stuff.

You should buy a 10k-13k boat and invest about 15k of that money. Starting at your age, 15K invested at 8% would end up being around 326k in 40 years without adding anything else to it. The full 30k invested today would grow to 652k over the same time span. you could have your retirment pretty much taken care of at age 16. Whatever you decide, congrats on saving so much at a young age.

Hey scott, this is adam. Sweet dude, I am looking to do the same thing in the next month or so. Or at least as soon as I get this darn cast off my arm.

I'm looking at early-mid 90's mastercraft prostars, ski nautiques, and malibus for about $12-15k like you said.

Late.
